Maritime Engineering, Security. Nautical Science and Transportation Training
The primary mission of The Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) is to offer leading edge education and training programs that will benefit professionals from the maritime and transportation industry.
GMATS offers more than 140 professional education and training programs. In addition, GMATS specializes in developing customized education and training programs that meet the specific needs of any organization. With nearly 4000 students annually attending its programs, GMATS has become an important supplier of maritime and transportation training for personnel from numerous government, military, and commercial entities.
Also offers United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved courses that will give a US documented merchant seaman the knowledge and Coast Guard endorsements necessary to advance his or her career. Additionally, the courses are designed to meet the regulatory requirements of all nations in line with the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Management level courses are recognized by the American Military University and address the needs of individuals desiring to learn more on management principles relating to shipyard operation, vessel operations and project management. Also, there are courses that are recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education (ACE).
- Engineering Programs: The Engineering Systems division at GMATS is dedicated to offering professional education in the areas of Marine Engineering, Diesel Engine Technology, Applied Electricity, and Refrigeration Technology. Marine and Shoreside professionals ranging from senior engineers to the newest trainees will find a variety of courses designed to provide valuable knowledge. Customized training programs and seminars are also available.
- Security and Transportation programs: The Security and Transportation programs at GMATS are designed to meet the needs of personnel in every level of the transportation industry, from management trainees to the seasoned professional. The courses cover programs from complex maritime and intermodal transportation logistics systems to the latest requirements in transportation security.
- Nautical Science: The Nautical Science Department at GMATS, has become a pioneer in the industry by teaming up with vessel owners and operators to provide new opportunities for seagoing personnel, such as the Crew Advancement Program (CAP). Customized Training Programs and seminars can be developed concerning a wide variety of subject matters upon request.
- Research and Special Projects: GMATS conducts applied research and specialized studies; performs operational assessments and process improvement activities; and provides a wide range of technical assistance and instructional services. Focus areas are: Vessel operations – afloat and ashore; Marine engineering, shipbuilding, and naval architecture; Security – seaport, marine terminal, intermodal cargo, and vessel; Workforce development – maritime training and education for seagoing and shoreside personnel; Maritime safety; Marine environmental stewardship; Alternative energy applications for maritime operations; Maritime infrastructure development; Marine and intermodal terminal operations - modal and intermodal systems; Maritime cargo and trade flows; Maritime industry leadership and business ethics; Port and waterways design and traffic management; Maritime business and economics; and, Maritime communication and information systems;.
Apart from the above GMATS conduct various military training programs, technology training programs, conferences and seminars for the government and other industries.
