Academic Programs

Undergraduate Programs

  • BSc in Transport & Business Management (Sandwich - 4 Years): This program may be studied as a full-time course or as a sandwich course incorporating a year of industrial training to gain a Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS). The four year program is of considerable benefit if you have little or no previous practical experience in the transport industry. The program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
  • BSc in Air Transport Management (Sandwich - 4 Years): The program prepares students for a career in the air transport business. Students study aviation safety, airport policy, planning and design, environmental impact and airline marketing and management. An industrial placement year is offered to provide the student with practical firsthand experience of the industry. The program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Masters Programs

  • PG Diploma, PG Cert / MSc in Human Factors in Transport (1 year): The Human Factors in Transport programme examines how best to ensure a good fit between people, the things they do, the objects they use, and the environments in which they work, travel and play in. You will apply theoretical principles, data and methods to ensure that design is optimised for human wellbeing and overall system performance.
  • MSc in Air Transport Management (1 year): The program offers a critical, comprehensive and practical understanding of the structure and operation of the international air transport industry and equips students with a range of transferable and analytical skills that can be applied in the workplace. The program is suited to recent graduates and those with professional experience who wish to develop and extend their knowledge of the commercial air transport industry.

With its 437 acre campus, one of the largest in the UK, Loughborough University is less than two miles from the M1, close to East Midlands Airport and only 90 minutes by train from London St Pancras.
  • Accreditation: Loughborough University is a public university and UK Border Agency (UKBA) highly trusted student sponsor. The Transport and Business Management program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
  • Research: The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), published in December, have confirmed Loughborough as one of the country's leading research universities. Loughborough submitted over 94% of its academic staff for assessment as part of the 2008 RAE – a rise of around 16% from the last RAE in 2001 and one of the highest returns of any university in the country.
  • Placement & Internships: Placements are designed to meet the requirements of the University’s Diploma in Industrial or Professional Studies requirements. To be eligible for a placement you must be a Loughborough student looking to go on placement next year. Placements will last for one year. Graduate internships are supported by a development program organized by the University’s Staff Development Unit with additional input from Human Resources and the Careers and Employability Centre. Graduate internships run from 6 to 12 months.
  • Housing: Each Residence Hall has a vibrant community with its own distinctive character offering you a safe and secure environment in which to live, study and enjoy. The Halls of Residence vary in style and size. Most residences are on campus, but all are conveniently situated for the campus and the town center.
