U.S.C.G. Approved Maritime Training and Offshore Training Programs at LaPlace, Louisiana
Founded in 1982, Martin International (MI) is licensed by the State of Louisiana to offer U.S.C.G. approved maritime training to mariners, seeking United States Coast Guard licenses and documents. The company holds memberships in the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), the Offshore Marine Service Organization (OMSA), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Martin International assists the offshore industry with training & educational needs and alsocontinually improve the service and the training courses including new courses that are vital to offshore personnel.
The curriculum includes document/license preparation courses for Able Seaman, OIM, Barge Supervisor and Ballast Control Operator, and Radar ARPA.
The curriculum also includes prerequisite courses to OIM, Barge Supervisor and BCO licenses, which are CPR/First Aid and Rig Stability & Ballast Control for Surface Units (Semi-Submersibles and Drillships), Bottom Bearing Units (Jack-Ups and Submersibles), Spars and Tension Leg Platforms.
Martin International also offers some of the training programs at Shell Robert Training Center (RTC) in Robert, LA.
Training Programs
USCG Approved Courses
- Able Seaman Course (5 days): Able Seaman course may be taken to obtain one of the following merchant mariner credentials - AB Unlimited, AB Limited, AB Special, AB MOU (Mobile Offshore Units), and OSV (Offshore Supply Vessels).
- Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor & Ballast Control Operator (5 days): This course covers stability, Firefighting, survival, drilling terminology, regulations and personnel management. Upon successful course completion as well as comprehensive examination, a certificate will be issued to the student.
- Stability & Ballast Control for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units Course: This five-day U.S. Coast Guard approved course is designed to meet the specific regulatory requirement for obtaining the Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor and Ballast Control Operator merchant mariner credential.
- Medic First Aid/BasicPlus CPR, AED 8.0: This program helps business, industry and government agency employees meet requirements for training employees in responding to and caring for medical emergencies at work.
- PSC (Proficiency & Survival Craft) Course: In partnership with Robert Training & Conference Center, MI offers PSC (Proficiency & Survival Craft)

- Stability for Surface Units and Active Ballast FOI (TLPs) Course: This five-day Martin International course is designed to meet the specific regulatory requirement for obtaining Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor and Ballast Control Operator licenses restricted to Tension Leg Platform (TLP) merchant mariner credentials.
- Stability for Surface Units and Passive Ballast FOI Stability (Spars & Mini-TLPs) Course: This five day Martin International course is designed to meet the specific regulatory requirement for obtaining Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor and Ballast Control Operator licenses restricted to SPAR and Mini-TLP merchant mariner credentials.

- U.S. Coast Guard Credentials to Foreign Endorsements: Martin International has established a working relationship with the Bahamas, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Panama, and Vanuatu consulates to assist personnel who work on rigs and vessels that fly the flags of these countries.
