Training Programs


ISPS Courses

  • Marine Security Operative (3 days) - MSO: This IMO and UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency approved training program provides you with the knowledge and skills to carry out duties as a designated Ship Security Officer (SSO) or a Maritime Security Operative(MSO), in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code.
  • Ships Security Officer (3 days) - SSO: This course fulfils the requirements of STCW A-VI/5 and is focused on the MCA / MNTB Ship Security Officer syllabus.  The content is designed to give delegates a comprehensive understanding of the Code and will demonstrate its implementation, ship security systems operation and the related legislation. Delegates will learn how to develop and maintain an effective ship security system and the required documentation.
  • Company Security Officer (4 days) - CSO: This intensive course provides training in Company Security for appointed personnel outside the UK. The course is based on IMO Model 3.02 and covers the requirements of ISPS A 11.2 and B 13.1 of the ISPS Code. The Course is realistic and practical in delivery using role play and interactive exercises in addition to theoretical material. In addition to our training facilities at Aberdeen and elsewhere in the UK this course can be presented worldwide and to a client’s requirements. The course is not MCA approved.
  • Port Facilities Security Officer (3 days) - PFSO: This comprehensive course meets the requirements of DfT and MLTS port facility security officer training specifications.  Our modular course structure is designed to give delegates a full understanding of the ISPS Code. Students will learn how to implement the Code and related legislation to fulfill the documentation requirements and maintain an effective security system.
  • Seafarers Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (9 hours): This IMO and UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency approved training program provides you with the knowledge and skills to carry out duties as designated by the Ship Security Officer (SSO) with competence and effectively in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code.
  • Seafarers Proficiency in Security Awareness (4 hours): This IMO and UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency approved training program provides you with the knowledge and skills to meet requirements of Section A-VI/6 paragraph 4 of the amended STCW code. This training leads to the issue of a STCW Certificate of Proficiency

Professional Development Programs

  • Instructor Training - ECDIS (5 days): The five-day Train-the-Trainer courses will focus on developing instructors’ methods for demonstrating the competence required for either ECDIS simulator training or its equivalent in underway experience. One purpose of this Course is to establish the high importance of replicating that underway navigational experience with ECDIS in simulator training.
  • Instructor Training - SSO (5 days): The five-day Train-the-Trainer courses will focus on developing instructors’ maritime security knowledge so that they are better equipped to train others, using the IMO model courses for Ship Security Officers (SSO).
  • Instructor Training - CSO (5 days): The five-day Train-the-Trainer courses will focus on developing instructors’ maritime security knowledge so that they are better equipped to train others, using the IMO model courses for, Company Security Officers (CSO).
  • Instructor Training - PFSO (5 days): The five-day Train-the-Trainer courses will focus on developing instructors’ maritime security knowledge so that they are better equipped to train others, using the IMO model courses for Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO).
