With training centers located at Irvine and Ayrshire near Glasgow, Windhoist Training Centre offers RenewableUK (RUK) and Global Wind Organization (GWO) approved Basic Safety Training courses such as Working at Height & Rescue, First Aid, Fire Awareness, & Manual Handling. Windhoist offers a combined learning environment of the classroom and practical learning delivered by industry leading instructors.

They have used the experience and expertise gathered working in the wind and construction industries to create a range of GWO and RUK approved training courses. These have been designed to pass on the knowledge of working at height, carrying out rescues at height and health and safety procedures.

All the courses are delivered from the new training center in Irvine, Scotland. The training center at Ayrshire is designed to provide Working at Height & Rescue course alongside heavy lift engineering courses. Windhoist also offers bespoke training courses for crane, wind application and construction and these courses can be designed to your specific requirements.

Training Programs

RUK / GWO Courses

  • GWO Basic Technical Training (4 days): The BTT training modules are aimed at people who wish to enter both the onshore and offshore renewable energy sectors. It is an excellent entry point for people who have no previous experience in hydraulic, mechanical or Electrical systems. It is also ideal for those who have some knowledge in these areas in but wish to upskill to work in the wind turbine industry. All personnel participating in Basic Technical Training must be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
  • GWO Working at Heights & Rescue (2 days): The aims of this course are to give the participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to use basic PFPE and perform safe work at heights, alongside safe and comprehensive basic rescue from heights in a remote wind turbine environment in accordance with Renewable UK and Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training (BST) Working at Heights standards.
  • GWO Working at Heights & Rescue Refresher (1 day)
  • GWO Manual Handling (1 day)
  • GWO Manual Handling Refresher (0.5 day)
  • GWO Fire Awareness (0.5 day)
  • GWO Fire Awareness Refresher (0.5 day)
  • GWO First Aid (2 days)
  • GWO First Aid Refresher (1 day)

Other Courses

  • Safe Use of Hydraulic Bolting Tools (Bolt Torque & Tension) (1 day): The aims of this course are to give participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to safely and effectively manage bolt torquing and stretching operations through the use of hydraulic bolting tools.
  • Safe Use of Abrasive Wheeled Tools (0.5 day): The aims of this course are to give participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to safely and effectively manage cutting, grinding, and polishing processes through the use of abrasive wheeled tools.
  • Safe Use of Chain Hoists (0.5 day): The aims of this course are to give participants the necessary basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to safely and effectively manage lifting and moving operations through the use of chain hoists, lever hoists, & electric motor hoist.
