Located in Florida, Seven Seas Preparatory Academy was created with the idea to introduce and mentor those seeking a career at sea. Seven Seas make training flexible and accessible by providing multiple locations and online classes. All courses and instructors are of the highest quality, strictly adhering to the most current STCW requirements.
The Academy provides Superyacht Courses and STCW training programs in a blended format with online and practical training. The yacht practical / class room courses are available in Fort Lauderdale & Orlando FL, and STCW practical classes are available in Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach, Cape Canaveral, Norwalk (Fairfield - Connecticut), Clearwater & Orlando.
The blended programs help you to save time and costs as you can do the online part of the courses sitting at the comforts of home and do the practical part in FL/CT at convenient locations.

Training Programs
Yacht Courses
- Yacht Deckhand – Deckhand Course (2 days, Fort Lauderdale & Orlando): This entry level Deckhand course is a great introduction to working as a deckhand on a yacht. It is designed for those interested in becoming a Deckhand on a private or charter yacht but are not sure how to best prepare or apply for a position.
- Yacht Deckhand - STCW Yacht Navigation Watch Rating (5 days, Orlando): Stand out from the competition and strengthen your CV with our combined Deckhand & STCW Yacht Navigational Watch Rating (NWR) course. Deckhands with the STCW Navigation Watch Rating are in demand by yacht Captains and will be advantageous when applying for your first Deckhand job.
- Professional Superyacht Stewardess / Steward Course (3 days, Fort Lauderdale & Orlando): This is the ideal course if you are wanting to find a yacht job without experience. This will include a basic overall introduction to working on yachts such as day to day expectations, tips on writing your CV, general terminology, a broad understanding of how a yacht operates.
STCW Courses (Blended & Online)
- STCW Basic Training Course (Online & 2 Day Practical): This is an exclusive 2 Day STCW Basic Training Blended course that is a combination of STCW training online covering the 4 modules of Basic Training followed by 2 days of in-person practical. STCW Basic Training is a required safety course for all crew. The practical portion covers Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques and Basic First Aid/CPR and are available in Cape Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, Fairfield (Norwalk CT) & Orlando.
- STCW Basic Training Revalidation (12 hours): This STCW basic training revalidation course meets the requirements of STCW approved by the US Coastguard. Courses are available in Cape Canaveral, Clearwater & Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach.
- STCW Personnel with Designated Security Duties (Blended - Online and Assessment): The PDSD Course meets the requirements of Section A-VI paragraphs 6-B of the amended STCW code and leads to the issue of a recognized STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD).
- STCW Crisis Management & Human Behavior USCG Approved (1 Day or Blended (Online & 1 hour Assessment): The blended STCW crises management and human behavior course meets the requirements of STCW under the approval of the US Coastguard. You can take this STCW course online and attend the class for the final assessment. The course is designed for those having responsibility for the safety of passengers in emergency situations.
- STCW Security Awareness (Online): The approved STCW Security Awareness Training course, provides crew with the necessary knowledge and understanding of basic security measures onboard the ship. This course will help you to have a heightened awareness of security and become more vigilant when onboard the ship.
- STCW Crowd Management Course (Online): The online Crowd Management course is US Coastguard approved and universally recognized. The course is required for those sailing on passenger ships.
- STCW Personal Survival Techniques & Basic Fire Fighting Blended Courses (Online and Half Day Practical for PST & 1 Day for Fire Fighting): The PST Blended courses is undertaken by completing the online course and attending 3 hours of practical at one of the pool locations. The STCW Basic Fire Fighting is undertaken by completing the online course and attending 8 hours of practical at one of the Firefighting locations.
