Ashford University, originally named Mount St. Clare College, was founded in 1918 by the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa, as a junior college for women. Its interest in adult learners began in 1962 when an evening program was begun to serve the needs of students with career and family responsibilities. In 1967, the College became coeducational. Baccalaureate degree programs began in 1979 and graduate degrees in 2003, coinciding with the name change to The Franciscan University. In 2005, the University was acquired by Bridgepoint Education and renamed Ashford University.

Ashford University offers online programs which are managed and implemented by the academic colleges. These programs serve adult and distance learners seeking Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees from Ashford University. Besides offering online courses that are accelerated and conveniently scheduled, Ashford University administers assessment activities to determine college-level credit that adult learners may have already achieved. Academic Programs

Undergraduate Program

  • BA in Supply Chain Management (Online): The Bachelor of Arts in Supply Chain Management program focuses on effective management of supply chain processes and the information flow appropriate to optimize activities and costs to efficiently and effectively serve the customer. Production schedules, procurement, transportation services, quality, and warehousing management activities are studied as individual functions as well as the strategic relationships among these functions. Emphasis will be placed on problem solving, logical thinking, and development of accurate management assessments. This major is also designed to incorporate the core business knowledge appropriate to manage wider organizational processes.

Graduate Program

  • MBA with Supply Chain Management Specialization: With a specialization in Supply Chain Management at Ashford University, you will further develop your logistics management skills, including materials management, evaluation and measurement, as well as distribution and inventory systems. Through three specific courses, closely related to the work in the Supply Chain Management degree program, you will complement your competency in business while gaining more specifically focused study in operations, production and delivery methods, quantitative methods, logistics, strategic planning, and project management. Your specialization may require prerequisite course work.
  • MA in Organizational Management with Specialization in Supply Chain Management: Learn how to maintain and manage an organization’s activities and employees in a wide variety of organizational management situations. Earn the necessary management expertise to deal with the human aspects of a business organization and inspire others in the workplace.
