Marine Service Technology Training & Education in Emmetsburg
Founded in 1967, Iowa Lakes Community College is a public and comprehensive educational institution. Located in the picturesque Iowa Great Lakes Region, Iowa Lakes offers several locations throughout a five-county service area: Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer and Spirit Lake. The College offers associate degree programs and certificate programs as a part of their curriculum.
Students can choose college transfer, career option, technical or vocational courses, one class at a time, or continuing education classes. Classes can be taken either full time or part time; days, evenings or weekends; via television, fiber optics or with a professor in the classroom; and via the Internet with online courses.
Career option courses are designed to prepare the participant for work or transfer to a four-year college after completion of an Associate in Science degree. Technical programs at Iowa Lakes qualify the student for an Associate in Applied Science degree after two years of study and work experience designed to prepare for successful job entry.
Iowa Lakes Community College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

- The Marine Service Technology program prepares men and women for employment in recreation areas and those industries which rely on mechanical engines to do their work. Employment opportunities include: marinas, national marine corporations, marine manufacturers, snowmobile dealerships, personal watercraft dealerships, parts distributors, sales reps, any place which sells boats, and personal watercraft or snowmobiles. Students have options with this program in the second year of the AAS Degree. They may take advanced marine courses or they may choose to focus on business management courses.
