Logistics and Supply Chain Management Education at Vol State, Gallatin TN

Established in 1971, Volunteer State Community College is a public, two-year, college offering associate degrees, certificates, continuing education, and service to northern Middle Tennessee. It is located in Gallatin, Tennessee, which is 30 miles northeast of Nashville. There are also degree granting centers at McGavock High School in Nashville and Vol State at Livingston in Overton County. Numerous off-campus operations extend the College’s instruction and public service roles throughout its 12 county area: Clay, Davidson, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale and Wilson.

Popularly known as Vol State, the college has a diverse mix of students ranging in age from teens to senior adults. They come from counties across the service area, many states around the nation, and more than 25 countries.

Vol State has more than 70 programs in five grand divisions: Humanities, Social Science and Education, Allied Health, Business, and Math and Science. The college also offers classes for the community, and area businesses, through the Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development.

The College is an Equal Opportunity Institution of Higher Learning of the Tennessee State Board of Regents and maintains an “open-door” policy of accepting any student who desires to improve through education. Volunteer State Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate Degree.

Undergraduate Programs

  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management Technical Certificate: This technical certificate program offers the opportunity for formal study in the growing field of Logistics, Transportation and Distribution Center/Warehouse Management, Sourcing & Procurement, and Supply Chain Management. Study in the program is designed to provide career growth. Students completing the Certificate Program may apply the coursework toward the Associate of Applied Science, General Business Administration Option, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration.
  • AAS Degree in Business - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration: This concentration is designed for career growth in the expanding area of Logistics, Transportation and Distribution Center/Warehouse Management. Employment in supervision and coordination roles in supply chain management, traffic management, entertainment touring, and order processing are the goals of the program.
  • Vol State has transfer partnerships in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with area universities, allowing students to continue their education for a four-year degree. Those institutions include: Lipscomb University, Tennessee State University, Western Kentucky University, and Middle Tennessee State University. The exact programs available for transfer depend on the university.
