Located in Bridgwater, Somerset, UK, Somerset Boat Centre (SBC) offers you a variety of ways to get on or be near the water and have fun. They offer canoes, kayaks, self-drive motor boats and a chartered narrowboat. In addition, the center itself is a destination for special events with its unique location and brand-new facilities.
Somerset Boat Centre is a recognized RYA training center for water related courses, alongside this they also offer other work-based training programs. SBC provide both Boat Training and Safety Training courses from its training center at the boat yard. Regulated OFQUAL first aid courses are also provided as standard by Somerset Boat Centre.
SBC offers a range of paddle sport lessons and guiding opportunities to suit every individual from beginner to advanced. Somerset Boat Centre also offers the organized trips for family and individuals.
Training Programs
RYA Courses
- RYA IWCC: RYA accredited one day Inland Waterways Crew Course - This is an entry level course and can be run in conjunction with the Inland Waterways Helmsman’s course for mixed ability groups. This course is ideal for introducing friends or family members to crewing a vessel on the inland waterways, and for giving them an understanding of how they can assist the helm.
- RYA IWHC: RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman Course two days - This course is for anyone wanting to cruise the UK’s inland waterways or Europe’s extensive network of lakes, rivers and canals. It deals specifically with the requirements of the inland boater, whether they be a narrow boat owner or cruiser enthusiast.
- RYA PB1: RYA Powerboat Level 1 Inland one-day course - This course is an introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.
- RYA PB2: RYA Powerboat Level 2 Inland two-day course - This two-day entry level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
OFQUAL First Aid Courses
- Emergency First Aid at Work 1 Day: This level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course will provide the knowledge and confidence to administer First Aid. This First Aid course designed for anyone looking to be a qualified Emergency First Aider.
- First Aid at Work 3 Day: The content of this Level 3 First Aid course will provide a higher level of training to ensure you or your staff can administer First Aid for a wider range of conditions.
