Located on the eastern side, New Brunswick (NB) is one of the three Maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces of Canada. Together with Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, it forms the regional grouping known as the Maritime Provinces. It is the only province with both French and English as its official languages.
New Brunswick is bordered by the province of Quebec, Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait, the Bay of Fundy, and the U.S. state of Maine to the west. New Brunswick is about 210 miles (340 km) from north to south and 185 miles (300 km) from east to west. 83% of the land mass is forested and its northern half is occupied by the Appalachians.
Canada’s largest port, the Port of Saint John is a port complex that occupies 300 acres of land along 3900 m of waterfront of the Saint John Harbor at the mouth of the Saint John River in the city of Saint John. Port Saint John is Atlantic Canada’s largest port by volume and has a diverse Cargo base, handling an average of 30 million metric tons of cargo annually, including dry and liquid bulks, break bulk, and containers. The Marco Polo cruise terminal is on the east side of the harbor in the downtown Saint John area of Brunswick.
