OPITO Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Programs (HUET) with Emergency Breathing System (EBS) or with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)
The OPITO approved Helicopter Underwater Escape (HUET) Training Programs with Emergency Breathing System (EBS) or with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) are designed for personnel travelling to offshore installations/vessels via helicopter when issued with an Emergency Breathing System (EBS) or with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS). The HUET program is also known as Helicopter Underwater Egress Training.
The aim of the HUET (with EBS or CA-EBS) program is to prepare delegates that intend to travel to and from offshore oil and gas installations and vessels by helicopter by providing specific training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements and to equip delegates with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a helicopter emergency - with specific focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
The courses provide delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge in emergency response related to helicopter safety and escape using the EBS or CA-EBS. The courses are essentially the HUET module of the BOSIET (EBS) or HUET module of the BOSIET (CA-EBS).
- Duration: 1-2 days
- Validity: 4 years
- Exam: Ongoing Assessments
HUET with EBS or CA-EBS Training
HUET training is one of the fundamental courses working in the offshore industry and is a combination of theory and practical exercises. The training takes place in a purpose-built indoor pool and in a dunker, which is a helicopter Simulator which can be submerged in water and can be rotated 180 degree. The dunker allows the participants to learn how to escape a helicopter that capsized in the sea. The training also covers the use of equipment such as Emergency Breathing System (EBS) or Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS)
