Marine Tech Program - ABYC Fundamentals of Marine Service and Technology & Mercury Marine Basics in Charlestown, MA
Established in 1953 and located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is an open access, multi-campus, urban institution and the largest community college in Massachusetts, enrolling more than 16,000 students annually. BHCC spans two campuses in Charlestown and Chelsea, complemented by instructional centers across Greater Boston. The diverse learning options include day, afternoon, evening, weekend, hybrid, and online courses.
BHCC offers a comprehensive array of more than 100 academic programs, encompassing associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs to four-year universities. Career Preparation & Certification
- Marine Technician Program: Introduction to Marine Engines and Systems in partnership with Mass Marine Trades Association and Mercury Marine University. Students will receive instruction in - ABYC Fundamentals of Marine Service and Technology, both theory and repairs and Mercury Marine Basics.
- Students will receive classroom and hands-on instruction on the basics marine service and technology in the areas of marine Shop safety and practice, Electrical systems and installation, Internal combustion theory. Drive systems, Inboard and outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting, Marine plumbing/HVAC, Fiberglass basics and marine construction concepts, Customer service principals and more.
- Marine technician graduates go on to pursue careers both on and off the water in trades such as; marine technician, shipyard trades, marina/dock staff, marine construction, vessel crew, and other maritime-related roles.
