MCA SQA General Engineering I & II Written Examinations for Second Engineer less than 3000 kW & Yacht 2 Chief Engineer (Y2)

MCA General Engineering I & II Written Exams are for seafarers to achieve the certificate of competency for Second Engineer <3000kW & Yacht 2 Chief Engineer (Y2). This is also required for Class 1 Fishing Engineer. The Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) offers examination services on behalf of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). These exams conducted at frequent intervals throughout the year.

Exam Scheme & Passing Marks: From December 2019, General Engineering Science I examination will be constituted of the following sections - Applied Mechanics and Mathematics. Candidates must achieve a pass mark of a minimum of 40% in each section. A minimum of 50% overall must be achieved to pass the module.
