Marine Service Technologies Program with Mercury and Yamaha Certifications at Davies, Florida with Online Hybrid Learning
Established in 1985 and located at Davies Florida, McFatter Technical College (MTC) offers college prep and technical education and part of South Florida Education Center which includes Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, University of Florida, and Broward College. McFatter conducts a lottery to decide which students to admit. Adults take either a daily 5 or 6 hour hands-on technical program which gives them training to enter the workforce.
With over 1000 adult enrollment, MTC offers Architecture, Engineering, Culinary Arts, Television Production, Digital Photography, Pharmacy Technology, Welding, Marine and several more programs. MTC students may transfer to a four-year university or to transition into the chosen career.
McFatter Technical College is accredited by the accrediting commission of the Council on Occupational Education.
Training Programs
Marine Technical Program
- Marine Service Technologies (1350 Hours/12 Months/Hybrid): The Marine Service Technologies course will prepare students for a career in the pleasure boating industry by providing students with the skills necessary to diagnose, overhaul and repair crafts of 50 feet and under and their outboard engines.
- The student will cover such topics as Marine Rigging, Outboard Engines, Fuel Injection Principles, Stern Drives and basic knowledge of Electronics Installation and Inboard Engines. Students must exhibit the strong reading, math, and computer skills necessary to be successful in the program, and must possess a solid mechanical aptitude.
- Upon completion of the program and meeting eligibility requirements, including the attainment of an aligned industry credential, students may be awarded credits toward an Associate Degree by Broward College or the Florida College System. Students must enroll in Broward College within 2 years of completing their program at McFatter.
