Undergraduate Program in Marine Design at SMCC Maine

Established in 1946, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) is a Public two-year college with two campuses located at South Portland and Brunswick in Maine, United States. SMCC is Maine’s largest community college with over 9,700 individuals served annually at the two main campuses, online and at community satellite centers across southern Maine.

Community Satellite Centers are located at Biddeford, Bonny Eagle, Casco/Naples, Massabesic, Portland, Sacopee Valley, and Windham.

SMCC is one of the seven colleges in the Maine Community College System. With over 6000 students, SMCC offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, and Certificate programs.

SMCC has more than 40 academic programs in trade and technical fields, as well as in the arts and sciences, that prepare students for careers or for transfer to colleges and universities to continue their education.

Southern Maine Community College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The South Portland Campus is located on an 80-acre site on the South Portland waterfront and the Midcoast Campus in Brunswick is located at Brunswick Landing at the site of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

Training Programs

Undergraduate Program

  • Undergraduate Certificate in Marine Design (1 year, full-time or part-time): The Architectural & Engineering Design program prepares students for technician-level work assisting architects, engineers and contractors who work in diverse manufacturing industries. Offering a variety of design disciplines, the program provides students with individual choices of specialization including architectural, mechanical and marine interests.
  • Architectural Engineering & Design offers a certificate in Marine Design requiring a mix of general education and hands-on courses. Some of the courses in this program are - CAD Graphics / Applications / Management, Introduction to Marine Design, Marine Design II, Marine Parametric Modeling, and more.
