LNG Courses

  • Gas Carrier Fundamentals - Hybrid (50 hours): Delivered in a phased approach to facilitate learning comprehension, this comprehensive hybrid training program has 28 hours of interactive web-based courses and 28 hours of instructor-led workshops that cover a variety of topics, including theoretical explanations about natural gas liquids, gas carrier ship design and arrangement, containment systems, Cargo handling equipment and preparing for ABS surveys and inspections.
  • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a Marine Fuel (3 days): This course provides a comprehensive overview of LNG and the use of LNG as a marine fuel. The course is for ship owners and operators, facility operators, vessel crews, port regulators, shipyard personnel and other maritime industry stakeholders interested in gas-fueled ship (GFS) design and operations.
  • LNG and Gas Carriers Familiarization: This course provides an overview of ships carrying liquefied gases, an introduction to natural gas and an overview of cargo containment and safety systems for gas carriers.
  • Introduction to Natural Gas Liquids: This course introduces the science behind natural gas, including characteristics and properties and the activities and supporting technologies for managing natural gas behaviors.
  • Gas Carrier Ship Types and Hazards: This course covers the differences between ships carrying liquefied gas in bulk, cargo hazards and ship survival capabilities as well as an overview of safety systems for gas carriers.
  • Cargo Containment Systems Introduction: This course provides an overview of containment systems for safely transporting liquefied gases in bulk, including characteristics, support systems, materials and insulation and advantages and disadvantages of the different types.
  • Systems and Cargo Handling Equipment Introduction: This course explains the cycle for ship loading and discharging operations, from a gas-free condition until a change of cargo is planned. Overviews for the systems involved in cargo handling operations will also be covered.
  • LNG Carrier Design and Survey Requirements: This course covers ABS Rules and IGC Code requirements for gas carrier cargo containment systems and hull design, including various scenarios and activities.
