Cyprus Maritime Authority Approved Certificate of Competency and STCW Training Programs in Limassol, Cyprus

Established in 2016 and located at Limassol in Cyprus, Mediterranean Maritime Academy (MMA) offers merchant marine training programs accredited by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping of Cyprus, that lead to a Certificate of Competency in three years (two years of studies plus one year of sea service), according to the STCW & IMO standards.
The Mediterrean Maritime Academy in cooperation with the Cosmos Nautical Training Centre also offers courses for promotion to the rank of Mater, Chief Mate & Second Engineer for the experiences Seafarers.
The Academy is a fully equipped training facility with TRANSAS Simulators for Bridge, Engine, ECDIS, Liquid Cargo Handling and GMDSS. As a Training Centre they provide all STCW courses for the students and seafarers in Cyprus such as BRM, ERM, ECDIS, Safety courses, Medical, Security, Tanker course and much more.
MMA is Accredited by Cyprus Maritime Authority and Certified by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance for ISO 9001:2008. Also, the Bridge Operation Simulator is approved by DNV.

Training Programs
Certificate of Competency (CoC)
- Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW): 3 years programs with 1 year sea service and accredited by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping of Cyprus.
- Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW): 3 years program with 1 year sea service and accredited by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping of Cyprus.
- Master (1 month): For certification as Master, 35 months of approved seagoing service on ships flying a white list flag is required, the course duration is one month.
- Chief Mate (3 months): For Certification as Chief Mate, 20 months of approved seagoing service on ships flying a white list flag is required, the courses consist of 3 parts, one month per part.
- Second Engineer (5 months): For Certification as Second Engineer officer, 19 months of approved seagoing service on ships flying a white list flag is required, the course consists of 4 parts over a 5-month period.
