Training Programs
Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering Courses Online
- Introduction to Naval Architecture Certificate (18 hours): The course Introduction to Naval Architecture is aimed at anyone interested in understanding the general principles of Naval Architecture. This may include Ship Managers, Technical Superintendents, Ship Masters, Officers and Seafarers; Shipyards Technical Staff; Surveyors; P&I and/or Insurance Inspectors; Marine Engineers; Etc.
- Shaft Alignment Certificate (3 hours): This training course describes the various components of a shaft line and the different types of shafts and their couplings, the importance of shaft alignment and the various methods utilized for shaft alignment. The course provides also a brief introduction to the vibrations that may affect the shaft lines.
- Marine Engineering Fundamentals Certificate (5 hours): This training course provides a general introduction to ship machinery, details of diesel engines, a description of piping systems in ship's engine rooms and an overview of marine auxiliary machinery such as pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, etc.
- Introduction to DP Systems Certificate (1.5 hours): This training course provides a general introduction to dynamic positioning systems, which are computer-controlled systems that automatically maintain the vessel's position and heading by using their propellers and thrusters.
- Ship's Structure Fundamentals Certificate (3 hours): This training course describes the various elements of the ship's structure, the loads acting on the structure and the required strength of the ship's structure to sustain such loads.
- Inclining Test and Lightweight Measurement Certificate (1 hour): This training course describes the inclining test and lightweight measurement procedures. Inclining test is a test performed on a ship to determine her stability, lightship weight and the coordinates of her center of gravity.
- Propeller and Shaft Installations Certificate (2 hours): This training course provides general information on the ship’s propulsion system and its main components, the Rules’ requirements for design and survey of propeller and shaft installations, the requirements and methodology for the assessment on board of shaft alignment, and an overview of tail shaft survey requirements.
- Quay and Sea Trials Certificate (2 hours): This training course provides basic knowledge about the tests to be performed by the shipbuilder to confirm that the ship and its equipment comply with the classification and statutory rules, flag state requirements and Owner’s specifications.
- Boiler Installations Certificate (3 hours): This training course concerns marine boilers with a focus on marine auxiliary boilers. It provides general information on marine boilers including their operation principles and parts, requirements for internal and external examinations, boiler’s maintenance and typical damages and repairs.

- Personal Safety on Board Ships (1.5 hours): This training course provides an overview of the general hazards existing on board ships, the appropriate protective equipment to be worn, the precautions to be taken before entering a confined space and other dangerous situations.
- Cybersecurity Awareness in Maritime Environment (1 hour): This training course provides general information about cybersecurity in the Maritime Industry. It describes the main cybersecurity issues regarding the use of computer-based equipment in the professional environment and proposes ways to protect oneself from hackers.
- Port State Control (2 hours): This training course aims at providing an overview of the Port State Control background, organization and procedures. It includes a description of the Port State Control inspection process, the criteria for selection of ships for inspection and the most common detainable deficiencies.
- Shipping (2 hours): This training course aims at providing an overview of the shipping community, the main players intervening on a ship and the different roles they play. It provides general information about ship owners and managers, flag administrations, classification societies, insurance companies, port state control, operational players and specialized press.
- Maritime Regulatory Bodies (3 hours): This training course provides a general introduction to the most important maritime regulatory bodies - the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
