Located in the North West England region, Cheshire is a geographic and historic county and former administrative county of northwestern England. Ellesmere Port Dock is a dock situated on the Manchester Ship Canal, in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England. Another dock, Runcorn Docks is owned by the Manchester Ship Canal Company which is now part of the Peel Ports Group. It now comprises Francis Dock, Alfred Dock and Fenton Dock.
Port of Weston plans to develop the site into an inter-modal port facility to enable freight, currently carried by road, to be transported by rail and water. This will mean increased warehousing, new container handling facilities, an extension to the existing West Coast Main Line rail siding, a new link road, and improved navigable access between the dock and the Manchester Ship Canal.

Opened in 2016, Park Farm Marina is another marina - canal boat marina - located roughly half way between the Anderton Boat Lift and Middlewich on the Trent and Mersey Canal two miles south east of the centre of Northwich.
