Metropolia is a multidisciplinary international university of applied sciences, the largest of its kind in Finland. The university operated under the Metropolia name since 2008, following the merger of two major universities of applied sciences. Metropolia has 14 degree programs taught in English, 10 undergraduate and 4 masters. As Metropolia has a vast partner school network around the world, it is possible to complete part of your studies or do your training period abroad.
Metropolia promotes a learning environment which encourages international cooperation and cultural awareness. Internationalization is clearly visible in the curricula, student and staff mobility, various projects and internationalization at home. The international degree programs allow Metropolia to host large numbers of incoming international and exchange students. 800 foreign degree students annually representing nearly 90 nationalities study at Metropolia and over 500 students go on long-term exchange programs every year.
Academic Programs
Bachelors Degree Program
- BBA in International Business and Logistics (IBL - 3.5 years, English): This program is designed to meet the requirements of today’s global business and gives students good hands-on knowledge and the ability to work in international logistics, an essential area of the modern business world. It includes subjects such as purchasing, logistics management, supply chain management and project management. The program encourages students to complete part of their studies abroad either on study exchange or work placement. In addition, course content is delivered by experts with experience of international business. Many of these instructors are native speakers of English.
- Career Prospects: The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree will provide you with wide range of career prospects. You may find yourself in the private or public sector and in global or local companies and organizations. The BBA degree will also give you the skills and knowledge needed to establish your own company and become an entrepreneur. Graduates of the IBL program have started their professional careers with job titles such as: Procurement Specialist, Freight Forwarder, Logistics Coordinator, Supply Chain Analyst, Customer Service Specialist, Sales Coordinator, Marketing Manager, Finance Specialist or Manager, Business Analyst, HR Specialist, Project Manager and Entrepreneur. As you gain experience, you may find yourself in more demanding managerial or consulting positions.
- Entry Requirements: An upper secondary level qualification (awarded normally after 12 years of schooling). Only final certificates will be accepted (transcripts, statements of results, result slips, scratch cards or provisional or temporary certificates etc. are not considered to be final certificates and therefore, will not be accepted). Student selections will be made solely on the basis of the entrance examination results conducted in Finland (school performance points will not be considered). IELTS score academic level 6.0 OR TOEFL score 550 paper-based test/ 79-80 internet -based test. Student selection will be carried out using Metropolia's entrance examination for Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs and/or SAT-scores (minimum SAT-score: evidence-based reading and writing 500 and math 500 points).
