Restricted OUPV, 6-Pak Captains License and 6 Pak Renewal Classes in International Falls, Duluth and Baudette, MN
Located in International Falls, MN, Northern Water Excursions provides Charter Captain License training, Fishing Charter / Guide, National Park Tours, Marine Deliveries & Taxi services and Private Training in and around Minnesota. Private tutor training is also available for individuals to pass their USCG 6-pak Captains License exams.
Northern Water Excursions also owns and operates a 2003 194 Fish-Hunter for charters and tours. The boat is powered by a 2019 200 Horsepower Mercury PRO XS and could carry up to 4 people. They are actively involved with the Rainy Lake Sportfishing Club and collaborate with with the National Parks, Conservation Corps, DNR, MN State Representatives, and local businesses to continue building up the fishery in the area.
Northern Water Excursions has bought Superior Marine Training which has been preparing participants for United Stated Coast Guard Merchant Mariner License at various places in Minnesota since 1988.
Training Programs
OUPV Licenses
- Restricted OUPV (ROUPV) (4 days): Restricted 6-Pak which is restricted to MN northern navigable lakes and MN inland lakes only. This course is typically sought out by individuals working on waters throughout Voyageurs National Park, Lake of the Woods, and Central MN Lakes. The ROUPV is taught in International Falls MN and Baudette MN.
- OUPV 6 Pak (8 days): This course will cover a variety of credentials and will be dependent on what kind of sea-service time you qualify for such as - Near Coastal (up to 100 miles off-shore), Great Lakes and Western Rivers/Inland, and Inland and Western Rivers. The OUPV will be taught in Duluth MN, Jordan MN, and International Falls MN.
- 6 Pak Renewal (1.5 days): This course is for those who are short on Sea-Service Time or coming out of Continuity.
