Located in Middletown RI, United States Maritime Resource Center (USMRC) is an independent, nonprofit organization with a niche focus specializing in navigation safety, maritime risk mitigation, human capital development and raising awareness of international shipping, maritime trade and transport. The organization is recognized as one of the world’s leading providers of marine operations research using real-time, man-in-the-loop simulation. From helping partners identify and mitigate Security threats, to understanding how ports, vessels and crews can mitigate physical risk on board, the research team works with domestic and international partners to advance the field of maritime operations around the world.
USMRC training division training and assessment programs for mariners and pilots are designed and led by a marine operations team comprised of professionals with a wide variety of real-world maritime experience, from Master Mariners of all tonnages and vessel types, highly experienced maritime pilots, to engineers of varying horsepower and propulsion types.
The programs provide unique opportunities for knowledge-sharing, skill development, peer-to-peer learning, confidence-building, assessment and candidate evaluation.
USMRC offers a wide range of education and training programs focused on the operational and technical aspects of marine operations, use of LNG as a marine fuel, maritime cyber assurance, maritime trade, and supply chain security.
These programs include 50 USCG Approved / STCW Compliant courses for mariners - a few select courses from this library are regularly scheduled for individuals.
