Captains License & Endorsements
- OUPV or Six-Pack License: The OUPV/Six-Pack is the most popular of the captain's licenses and if you are looking to offer fishing and sailing charters, become a certified instructor or offer guide services commercially then the Operator of Uninspected Passenger (OUPV) captain’s license in required. This license is commonly referred to as a Six-Pack because it allows the holder to take up to six paying passengers and crew out on the water.
- Master Up to 100 Ton License: The USCG Masters license is the highest-level license that you can acquire. This license allows you to operate inspected vessels (7 passengers or more - like a water taxi or dive boat) or uninspected vessels. The USCG does not require that you get a Six-Pack license before you get your Masters, so if you qualify, you can skip the Six-Pack and go straight to your Masters.
- OUPV/Six-Pack Upgrade to Masters: The OUPV Upgrade to 25or 50 or 100 Ton Masters course is for those who wish to upgrade their existing OUPV/Six-pack to a Master level license. Depending on your experience, it will be issued as a 25, 50, or 100-ton license.
- Towing & Sailing Endorsements: The Towing Endorsement may be issued to those who hold a Six-Pack or Masters license and would like to engage in assisting vessels for a fee.The Sailing Endorsement is required if you want to operate an Inspected Sailing Vessel. This endorsement allows the licensed Master to carry 7 or more passengers while under sail on an inspected vessel.
- License Renewal: The Deck License Renewal course provides mariners an opportunity to renew their U.S. Coast Guard OUPV and Masters of not more than 100-Ton for operation in the Great Lakes, Inland, and Near Coastal waters license.
