Navigation, Marine Engineering, Transport & Logistics Education & Training

Established in 1947, Maritime University of Szczecin is a technical university with a maritime education tradition. With over 100 well-equipped laboratories, a modern research-training vessel Nawigator XXI, and 14 most technically advanced simulators, Maritime University of Szczecin is one of the best-equipped by 21st century standards maritime universities in the world. The whole university functions under the quality management system ISO 9001 and has been given the certificate of complying with the requirements of STCW.
Training by means of simulators is considered to be the most effective method of training marine officers. The revised Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping recommends the application of simulators in providing knowledge and skills to the future merchant fleet officers. Therefore, much emphasis is put on practical use of the lectured theory. Practical classes, including those on simulators, constitute a considerable part of the curriculum.
Maritime University of Szczecin consists of three faculties - Faculty of Navigation, Faculty of Maritime Engineering and Faculty of Economics and Transport Engineering. The Faculty of Navigation is authorized to confer a degree of doctor of technical sciences in geodesy and cartography. The Faculty of Marine Engineering offers courses to students in the field of mechanics and machine construction, mainly ship’s officer engineers, as well as specialists in (marine) machine/equipment diagnosis and repairs. Faculty of Economics and Transport Engineering offers two fields of studies, Production Management & Engineering and Transport.
