Training Programs
Captain's Classes
- Captains Classes: Offers OUPV - 100t Great Lakes Master courses. Class sizes are small and course work is extremely interactive. The training, although in a classroom, is practical and full of review.
- Additional Services: Paperwork & Examination Facilitation. Captains Classes include a bonus leadership session to help you jump start your success
Sailing Classes
- Let's Get Sailing - Sailing 101: Learn sailing basics with these hands on, active class. Part of the fun is our RC models! Upon completion of the course, you will be able to understand the handling of sails, wind and a small boat.
- Extra Sail Coaching: It's a 2-hour session.
- Schooner Sailing: Spend a morning sailing on tall ship MJ. Be mentored by the captain and professional crew as you take part in all aspects of running a schooner. You will learn about gaff rig sailing, traditional line handling, safety checks, trim, and get some helm time.
Boating Classes
- So You Bought a Boat - Boating 101: Upon completion of the course you will have complied, 4 emergency response plans, 6 useful knots, 4 easy to remember principles, and a 12 point procedure checklist.
- Navigation and Rules of the Road : This class covers the general rules of the road and basic chart work to help you be confident piloting your vessel on the water. You will practice many practical scenarios through which to navigate your boat.
Knots and Rigging
- Hammock Making: Make your own ship's hammock while learning traditional rope work like splicing, grommets and seizing.
- Intensive Rope Work: Advance to trickier traditional work designs to make helpful or decorative pieces for your boat.
