OPITO Certified FOET for Renewable Energy (Wind) Full or Limited Access Training for Personnel with Access to Offshore Wind Farm Sites

The OPITO-approved FOET for Renewable Energy (Wind) Full Access training, is designed to refresh and revalidate, offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel with full access to offshore WTGs and associated areas and environment.

The OPITO-approved FOET for Renewable Energy (Wind) Limited Access training, is designed to refresh and revalidate, offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel with limited access to offshore WTGs and associated areas and environment.


Full Access encompasses access to and from the vessel operating at the WTG site offshore, for construction, service, crew transfer, and access to the offshore foundation including transition piece, jacket, platform, tower and turbine nacelle.

Limited Access encompasses access only to and from the vessel operating at the WTG site offshore, for construction, service, crew transfer and access only to the offshore foundation including transition piece, jacket or platform.

If transfer to offshore assets is by helicopter then the OPITO Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) will need to be undertaken separately.

  • Duration: Full Access - 15 hours & Limited Access - 8.5 hours
  • Validity: Please note, the expiry date of these units (as undertaken during the intervening four years between BOSIET and FOET training, or FOET and FOET training), must align with the valid BOSIET or FOET certificate held.
  • Prerequisites: The FOET for Renewable Energy (Wind) Full Access, A BOSIET for wind Full Access, a FOET for wind Full Access, or a BOSIET for Renewable Energy Full Access Upgrade certificate OR a Valid Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training Module Certificates for all 5 modules

OPITO FOET for Renewable Energy (Wind) Full or Limited Access

The Training Modules

  • Safety Induction
  • Working at Height, including rescue and evacuation
  • Sea Survival and Safe Transfer
  • Fire Fighting and Self Rescue
  • Emergency First Aid, including dealing with major trauma, and Incident Management
  • Manual Handling

The Training Objectives

  • Refresh and update their understanding of key industry safety information and policies
  • Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, including that for Working at Height with a focus on use of various ladder types
  • Demonstrate sea survival, safe transfer, first aid, and manual handling techniques
  • Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practice self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke filled areas
