Kimberley Training Institute is a private education company in WA, Australia. Being part of the national training system means that Kimberley Training Institute courses and qualifications are nationally accredited. Any Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications attained are recognized Australia wide, some internationally, and can also be used to link into university degree courses.
Kimberley Training Institute works closely with Industry and agencies to deliver training that is relevant to the future development of the Kimberley region. Training is offered predominantly in a flexible mode with many courses also offered online. The emphasis on providing employment-ready skills is evident in the number of courses Kimberly offers and in particular the employment based training courses, which are delivered both on campus and off site at the client's workplace.
Training Programs
- Certificate I in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal): Upon successful completion, this certificate entitles the holder to command a vessel less than 12m in length that is not carrying passengers and has less than 100kw of power for an inboard engine (however outboards are unlimited) and operate a vessel in sheltered waters or as a tender within 3nm of a parent vessel or from an aquaculture lease.
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal): Upon successful completion, this certificate entitles the holder to command a vessel less than 12m in length carrying passengers and has less than 500kw of power for an inboard engine (however outboards are unlimited) and operate a vessel within waters designated by DOT.
- Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal): This certificate entitles the holder to act as Chief Engineer on a vessel with propulsion power
- Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 metres Near Coastal): This qualification is suitable for people working in the maritime industry as a Master on commercial vessels up to 24 metres in length within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
- Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST): The RST is a certificate of competency. It means you have demonstrated the minimum knowledge and practical skills necessary to operate a boat safely on the water. It is based on a set of nationally agreed marine safety competencies.
