Located at Riga Latvia, Novikontas Maritime College (NMC) is a private educational and training institution offers maritime training programs for those who work at sea or plan to start carrier at sea.
All STCW required courses, College and upgrade programs for Navigators and Marine Engineers available. NMC trains and educates seafarers and promote maritime profession. All STCW required courses, College and upgrade programs for Navigators and Marine Engineers available at the college.
Novikontas Maritime College participates in Erasmus + exchange program. After completion of Erasmus+ exchange program the obtained grades of a mobility student are transferred and registered as the program results of their official institution upon students’ arrival.
Facilities at the college includes - Various Simulators, lifeboat, Rescue Boat, Fast Rescue Boat, Fire Fighting Equipment, Survival Equipment, Medical Equipment, Classrooms, Briefing Rooms, and a Well Stocked Library.
Training Programs
First Stage Programs
- Ordinary Seaman Program (Full Time): 2.5 months of theoretical studies + 4 to 7 months of paid training on board. Upon completion of theoretical and practical studies, the students are awarded a seaman’s diploma, and can immediately start working on board. This course prepares the candidates for Ordinary Seaman profession according to the competences of the STCW code requirements of A-II/4 and A-II/5, as well as B-II/4 and B-II/5.
- Motorman Program (Full Time, 10 weeks): 3 months of theoretical studies + 4 to 7 months of paid training on board. Upon completion of theoretical and practical studies, the students are awarded a motorman’s diploma, and can immediately start working on board. This course prepares the candidates for Motorman profession according to the competences of the STCW code requirements ofA-III/4 and A-III/5, as well as B-III/4 and B-III/5 instructions.
Second Stage Programs
- Navigational Officer Program - Maritime Transport (Part Time): The navigation officer program duration is 3 years and 2 months. The students are awarded a diploma of “Officer in charge of a navigational watch” upon program completion.
- Marine Engineer Program (Part Time): The Marine Engineer program duration is 3 years. The students are awarded a diploma of “Engineer in charge of an engineering watch”.
