Located at Riga Latvia, Novikontas Maritime College (NMC) is a private educational and training institution offers maritime training programs for those who work at sea or plan to start carrier at sea. All STCW required courses, College and upgrade programs for Navigators and Marine Engineers available. NMC trains and educates seafarers and promote maritime profession. Novikontas Maritime College participates in Erasmus + exchange program. After completion of Erasmus+ exchange program the obtained grades of a mobility student are transferred and registered as the program results of their official institution upon students’ arrival. Facilities at the college includes - Various Simulators, lifeboat, Rescue Boat, Fast Rescue Boat, Fire Fighting Equipment, Survival Equipment, Medical Equipment, Classrooms, Briefing Rooms, and a Well Stocked Library.

Navigation Programs

  • College Program - Deck Officer without Limitation: The role of educational program Deck Officer offered is to develop highly professional ship Navigational Officers with internationally recognized diplomas. During your studies you will - work independently and with other crew members; manage yourself while discovering your ship; be ready to take responsibility while planning the routes of the ship; be able to solve problems and think critical on Bridge Simulator and real ship; apply leadership during day-by-day works and safety trainings; be able to look differently while planning cargo operations; and make reporting on performance indicators of ship and completed jobs to the Captain.
  • Management Level Program (Captain and Chief Officer without Limitation) (6 months): This Upgrade Competence program is intended for ships’ Navigation officers, who do not have enough education to become Chief Office or Master and going to upgrade their national license on management level. This program allows participants to improve their knowledge, understanding and proficiency in accordance with required professional competences stated in Section A-II/2 of STCW Convention.

Marine Engineering Programs

  • College Program - Engineer Officer without Limitation: The role of educational program Engineer Officer is to develop highly professional ship engineers with internationally recognized diplomas. Modern educational resources, such as engine room simulators, electrical laboratories, ships’ auxiliary systems in combination with efficient pedagogical instruments will provide you with up-to-date knowledge, skills, techniques and methods that are required by marine engineer.
  • Management Level Program (Chief Engineer and Second Engineer without Limitation) (6 months): This Engineering Upgrade Competence program is intended for ships’ engineer officers, who do not have enough education to become 2/eng or ch/eng and going to upgrade their national license on management level. This program allows participants to improve their knowledge, understanding and proficiency in accordance with required professional competences stated in Section A-III/2 of STCW Convention.
