Chisholm Institute is a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Institute located in the south-east Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Since 1998, Chisholm Institute has served one of Australia's fastest growing regions - offering industry-respected courses in spacious, modern locations, online, and in workplaces. Chisholm offers over 330 certificate, diploma, advanced diploma and graduate certificate courses in a number of areas including the arts and humanities, hospitality, information technology, mechanics and business. It was founded in 1998 by the merging of Casey Institute of TAFE, Peninsula Institute of TAFE and Barton Institute of TAFE.
Chisholm continues to develop needed specialist degree programs. Chisholm also conducts over 300 short courses for industry compliance and skills development, as well as self-improvement and recreation. Chisholm is continually looking for ways to make your study easier to fit in with your work and life. Different courses are now available full time or part time, in short term intensive mode or at-your-own pace, on-campus or off-campus, daytime or evenings, online or as a combination.
Chisholm Institute operates from seven locations across South East Melbourne with Campus locations in Dandenong, Frankston, Berwick, Flinders Lane, Cranbourne, Chisholm at 311, Melbourne City, Bass Coast, and Mornington Peninsula. The institute also offers over 20 courses online ranging from Certificate IV to Diploma and Graduate Certificate qualifications.
Training Programs
Marine Apprenticeship Program
- Certificate III in Marine Mechanical Technology (Frankston & Workplace - 3 years PT): This is an accredited apprenticeship course, which involves a competency-based assessment program that can be undertaken in the workplace, at Chisholm, or a combination of both. When you complete this course, you’ll be able to service, diagnose and repair a range of marine systems and equipment with confidence. During the course, you'll learn about workplace safety and equipment, and also work on the Electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and fuel system components applicable to both inboard and outboard marine installations.
Logistics Programs
- Certificate III in Warehousing Operations (Workplace, 2 years PT): Successful completion will require competency in units that relate to work defined as aligned at AQF Level 3. Performance of a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, where some discretion and judgment is required in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures and within known time constraints.
- Diploma of Logistics (Dandenong campus - 9 months, PT): The program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to perform effectively in the logistics environment. This course services as a foundation for career development and those who wish to gain a formal qualification in the logistics and supply chain management field.
