Established in 1927 and located in Long Beach, CA, Long Beach City College (LBCC) is a two-year public community college that provides a broad range of academic and career technical instructional programs, and economic and workforce development initiatives that prepare for the student success. The college currently serves over 25,000 students each semester. LBCC is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

With four schools to house its instructional programs, LBCC provides program offerings in Career and Technical Education, Language Arts and Communication, Social Sciences and the Arts, and Health, Science & Mathematics.

The Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at Long Beach City College is a program that provides professional development for individuals who want to develop or enhance their knowledge and skills in the supply chain/logistics sector.

These short-term and highly intensive classes have content aligned to industry-specific occupations, such as - Logistics Specialist, Dispatcher, Logistics Manager, and Transportation Supervisor.

Global Trade & Logistics Programs

  • Associate in Arts (AA), Business -Global Trade and Logistics: This program is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of business principles and practices in the context of global trade and logistics. The program is intended for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of international business, particularly in the areas of transportation, logistics, supply chain management, and global trade.
  • Certificate of Achievement (ACH), Business - Global Trade and Logistics: is designed to provide students with a specialized understanding of business principles and practices in the context of global trade and logistics. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be well-prepared for entry-level positions in a variety of industries, as well as for further study in a related field.
  • Certificate of Accomplishment (ACC), Business - Logistics: The program is intended for students who are interested in developing skills and knowledge related to logistics, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and supply chain optimization.

Maritime Center Training Programs

  • Introduction to Logistics: Focuses on logistics from the warehouse and drayage perspective, and will help prepare students for specialist, analyst, and entry-level operations positions in the logistics sector.
  • Intermediate Logistics: It will prepare students for positions such as logistics manager and will cover first-time supervisory skills, basic forecasting and projections, Kaizen, cost analysis and budgeting, and more.
  • Intermediate Transportation Operations​: This course includes driver and time management, vehicle and driver safety, compliance, port, and terminal operations, federal and state regulations, first-time supervisory skills, and more. Ideal for truck drivers who want to shift into operations, or dispatchers who want to move up.
  • Dispatching for Logistics: The course includes routing, scheduling, regulations, and interpersonal and conflict management skills. Students will also gain a general understanding of logistics, the supply chain, and the basics of drayage operations.
  • International Transportation & U.S. Customs Clearance Procedures: This course takes an in-depth approach to train students on the global logistics, including ocean and air transportation components/processes, calculation of shipping costs, and Import/Export documentation, as well as classification and valuation of goods for the U.S. Customs clearance. The skills developed in this course will prepare students for positions such as Import compliance specialist, ocean contract administrator, break bulk coordinator, and more.
