OUPV (6-pack), Master 25/50/100 Ton License Training and Sailing, Assistance Towing Endorsements & PADI Divemaster Program at BSA Sea Base, Florida Keys
Established in the 1970’s the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Sea Base offers dynamic programs that immerses scouts in the ocean’s wonders through a variety of adventurous water activities. Nestled in the Florida Keys, Sea Base serves as an exceptional venue for sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. Participants engage in hands-on experiences that foster marine conservation, teamwork, and essential outdoor skills, all while enjoying the stunning tropical surroundings.
In partnership with Sea School, Sea Base offerss the Captains License Program. Successful completion of this comprehensive course, along with a passing score on the subsequent proctored exam, allows participants to apply for a license without needing to take the official USCG exam. After the course concludes, students will take Sea School’s exam, which is tailored to the course material, and must pass it within one year of the course start date.
The program includes extensive classroom instruction, paired with practical experiences that enable participants to practice vessel handling under both power and sail. Students will also gain valuable dockside knowledge pertinent to marina operations, such as fuel management, charter provisions, and the crucial task of waste disposal. This program equips future mariners with the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and responsible boating.
Training Programs
USCG Captains License Programs
- OUPV (6-pack) License: This license bnables the holder to transport up to 6 passengers commercially and work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts, sail boats, fishing charters and at exotic resort locations.
- 25/50- or 100-Ton Masters License: Enables the holder to transport 7 or more passengers commercially and lead charters in operating knowledgably, safely and courteously on the water.
- Sailing / Assistance Towing Endorsements: Earn endorsements for sailing vessels or Assistance Towing.
PADI Programs
- PADI Divemaster: Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. PADI Divemaster is the prerequisite certification for the PADI Instructor Certification.
