USCG Approved Captain’s and Master Captain’s License Classes, Upgrades & Renewals & Towing & Sailing Endorsements in New Jersey & Florida
Located in Toms river, New Jersey, Captains License Class provides USCG approved Captain’s License, Master Captain’s License, and related courses in various locations in New Jersey (Pine Beach, Riverside and Wildwood) & Florida (Miami). The courses are also conducted online using the Mariners Learning System.
Upon successful completion of the Mariners School classroom course, the student studies the materials and takes a proctored exam in the classroom. Once the student passes the multiple-choice exam, he or she will receive a Mariners School™ certificate recognized by the United States Coast Guard.
You just need to submit, within one year, the original certificate along with your application package and applicable fees to the USCG Regional Exam Center. Upon their approval of your package, the United States Coast Guard will send out the original License.
The courses at these locations are conducted with 50% attendance due to Covid and the classes and the testing are available on the online format.
Training Programs
Captain’s License
- US Coast Guard Captain's License (OUPV, Six Pack, Charter Boat Captain): The course is offered at Seaside Heights, Riverside and Toms River NJ & Miami, FL. This license entitles the holder to carry up to six passengers for hire. Including the Captain and Mate, that adds up to eight people authorized onboard power or sailing vessels up to 100-tons.
- Captain's License OUPV/Six-pack (Digital Edition - MLS): The Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV/Charter Boat Captain) is the most popular of the Captain's Licenses and is required for those who wish to operate fishing and sailing charters, run a dive boat, or offer sightseeing tours, etc.
- Captain's License OUPV/Six-pack (Deluxe Edition - MLS): Included with each Mariners Learning System course is 24/7 access to our online instructors. Each instructor is a USCG Licensed Master that has gone through a rigorous approval process meeting the standards of the United States Coast Guard to become a certified instructor.
Master’s License
- Master Captain's License 25, 50, 100 Ton: This license is given in increments up to 100 tons depending on your boating experience, and can be issued as a 25, 50, or 100 ton license. The USCG does not require that you get a Six-Pack License before you get your Master Captains License, so if you qualify, you can skip the Six-Pack and go straight to your Master Captains License.
- Master Captain's License 25/50/100 Ton (Deluxe Edition): The 25/50/100 Ton Master License is required to carry seven or more passengers on an inspected passenger vessel. In order to carry seven or more passengers under sail, a Sailing Endorsement is also required.
- Master Captain's License 25/50/100 Ton (Digital Edition): This course satisfies the examination requirement for the 25-ton, 50-ton or 100-ton Master License. The tonnage level of a Master's license issued will be based on the size vessel on which you have your sea service experience.
- US Coast Guard Masters Upgrade License 25, 50, 100 Ton License: Offers USCG Masters License 25, 50, 100 Ton Upgrade class at several New Jersey locations, and one Miami, FL location. This course is for captains already holding an OUPV license and wishing to upgrade it to a Master Captain.
- OUPV Upgrade to 25/50/100 Ton Master (Deluxe Edition - MLS): The 25/50/100 Ton Master License is required to carry seven or more passengers on an inspected passenger vessel. In order to carry seven or more passengers under sail, a Sailing Endorsement is also required.
- OUPV Upgrade to 25/50/100 Ton Master (Digital Edition - MLS): This course is for those who wish to upgrade their existing OUPV License (Six-pack) to a 25-ton, 50-ton, or 100-ton Master Captain's License. The Master's License is required to operate an inspected vessel that carries seven or more paying passengers.
