Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, five minutes from Port Everglades, the International Airport, MPT is the most complete full service private maritime school in the country and has been training mariners since 1983. Fort Lauderdale based campuses host over 45,000 square feet of classrooms, deck and engineering training labs, the Ship’s Store, and student service facilities.

In addition to the MPT Main Campus, the training programs also take place at the MPT SMARTTM Simulation Center, Marine Tech Shipboard Firefighting Site, the Sea Survival Training Facility, and the MPT Fleet of Training vessels.

MPT offers all levels of certification, license and document study programs, many of these offer in-school testing and are USCG Approved and recognized by many foreign administrations. The training programs are designed to meet and exceed IMO standards and are STCW Compliant.

MPT client list includes commercial shipping companies, marine corporations, the military, vessel management firms, the world’s best super yachts and thousands of individuals whose word of mouth recommendations are responsible for the success.

Maritime Programs Package

STCW Plus Programs

  • STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) (1 week, 5 full days): These modules include Basic Fire Fighting, PSSR, Personal Survival Techniques, and First Aid/ CPR.
  • STCW BST plus AEC (2 weeks): STCW Basic Training plus MCA Approved Engine Course
  • STCW BST plus Security Awareness (1 week): STCW Basic Training plus Maritime Security Awareness.
  • STCW BST plus QMED (5 weeks): Includes all testing. Modules include BST plus QMED oiler.

USCG Programs

  • USCG Captain's License Program: Modlues include - Captain's License USCG - Master or Mate 100 ton,  FCC Marine Radio Operator Course and Exam MROP, Assistance Towing, Auxiliary Sail Endorsement USCG, and, 143N First Aid and CPR Night Class.
  • USCG Mate (OICNW) Program: Mate 500-1600grt, 3rd Mate Unlimited / STCW II/1 OICNW <500GT. MPT offers all of the courses that are required by USCG NVIC 12-14 to upgrade from an Able Seaman to a Third Mate Unlimited or a Mate 500/1600/OSV/Mate (Pilot) Towing license.
  • USCG Mate (OICNW) Mini Program (9 weeks): Required courses and basic Exam prep only.  Modules include - Radar Observer Unlimited, Bridge Resource Management, Medical First Aid Care Provider,  Advanced Fire Fighting STCW, Flashing Light - Visual Signaling Exam only, Deck Officer Upgrade /Terrestrial Coastal Navigation/Master/Mate/500/1600/3000 Unlimited Mate/ OICNW, Celestial Navigation for Oceans Endorsement, and, Leadership and Teamworking Skills (MARTPT-768).
  • Able Seaman / RFPNW Program (3 weeks): This is a national certification. Courses include: Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities, First Aid /CPR, Basic Fire Fighting(2 day class), Proficiency In Survival Craft and Rescue Boats/ Lifeboatman (PSCRB), AB Able Seaman, RFPNW STCW Tasks (Assessments),  Personal Survival Techniques PST, and, Marlinespike Seamanship.
  • USCG Master Oceans Upgrade: 500-1600-3000 (12 weeks): Courses include - Radar Observer Unlimited,  Bridge Resource Management, Advanced Fire Fighting STCW, Proficiency In Survival Craft and Rescue Boats/ Lifeboatman (PSCRB), AB Able Seaman, RFPNW STCW Tasks (Assessments), Deck Officer Upgrade /Terrestrial Coastal Navigation/Master/Mate/500/1600/3000 Unlimited Mate/ OICNW, Celestial Navigation for Oceans Endorsement, Navigation and Deck General Supplemental, Marlinespike Seamanship, and, Human Element Leadership & Management (HELM) M.
  • Master of Towing - Mate Pilot - Apprentice Mate: Courses include - Radar Observer Unlimited, Captain's License USCG - Master or Mate 100 ton, Apprentice Mate Steersman / Master of Towing Crossover Upgrade APX, and Master or Mate 200 ton Upgrade.

PYA Programs

  • Introductory Steward(ess) Training (5 days): This program includes - PYA Yacht Interior Introduction, PYA Yacht Interior Basic Food Service, and PYA Wine & Cocktail Introduction.
  • Senior Steward(ess) (10 days): Program includes - PYA Yacht Interior Advanced Service Level 1, PYA Yacht Interior Administration & HR, PYA Yacht Interior Advanced Housekeeping & Valet Services,  Advanced Bartending and Mixology Module 1, Advanced Wine Appreciation Module 1, and PYA Yacht Interior Advanced Laundry Service.
  • USCG Chief Mate/ Master Program: Courses include - ECDIS,  Advanced Stability,Advanced Cargo Operations, Advanced Ship Handling (Shiphandling), Advanced Meteorology, Advanced Watchkeeping,  Marine Propulsion Plants, Ship Management, Advanced Navigation (formerly VPEN), Ships Business and Maritime Law, Human Element Leadership & Management (HELM) M, and, Chief Mate / Master License Advancement Preparation.

MCA/RYA Programs

  • STCW BST Plus MCA/RYA Yachtmaster 200 Ton (3 weeks): Courses include - Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities, First Aid /CPR, Basic Fire Fighting(2 day class), RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC) Radio Course, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore / Yachtmaster Coastal / Master of Yachts 200, and, Personal Survival Techniques PST.
  • MCA Y4 Engineer Program (5 weeks): Modules include - MCA Y4 Craft Skills Test, MCA Y4 Marine Diesel Engineering, MCA Y4 Operational Procedures and Basic Hotel Services, MCA Y4 Auxiliary Equipment, and, Human Element Leadership and Management (HELM) Operational Level – MCA.
  • MCA Y2/Y1 Engineer Program (5 weeks): Courses include - MCA Y2/Y1 General Engineering Science II,  MCA Y2/Y1 Applied Marine Engineering, MCA Y2/Y1 Advanced Hotel Services, MCA Y2/Y1 General Engineering Science I, and, Human Element Leadership & Management (HELM) M.
  • MCA OOW 3000 Ton Program (8 weeks): includes written exams. Courses include – ECDIS, MCA GSK -General Ship's Knowledge, MCA OOW Navigation and Radar, GMDSS GOC - MCA AMERC, MCA Advanced Sea Survival, and, Human Element Leadership and Management (HELM) Operational Level – MCA.
  • MCA Master 500-3000 Ton (7 weeks): Upgrade from OOW to Master. Course include - MCA Business and Law, MCA Seamanship and Meteorology, MCA Navigation, Radar, and Arpa, MCA Stability, Human Element Leadership & Management (HELM) M, and, MCA Celestial Navigation Refresher Course & Exam.
