Located in the City of Fethiye in Mugla province of Turkey, Xone Superyacht Academy is part of VIRA Superyacht & Sailing Academy (VIRA SSA) which was established in 2006. Xone Academy offers education and training for the superyacht industry to meet the growing international demand for crew, officers and captains who are trained to the highest professional standards throughout the Mediterranean region. The academy is an IYT WW partner school since 2011 and became a Training Center for the MCA recognized Master of Yachts Professional Courses.

The academy is a fully approved & authorized Private Marine School is Turkey. VIRA SSA also is the only School having ISO 9001:2008 certificate from LRQA (Lloyd Register of Shipping). Xone Yacht provides Yacht Crew Management across the region. All professional course instructors and examiners are qualified professional mariners. The academy also provides a range of opportunities for professional and personal development up to master’s degree level.

Training facilities include - Radar Simulation Laboratory, Bridge Simulation Laboratory, GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress & Safety Systems) Laboratory, and training boats include Awareness (Bavaria 46 Cruiser) & Nice (Angel Marine 55 Taiwan). STCW, they have a Fire Fighting Training Platform, a Personal Survival Techniques Training Platform, and a Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Platform.

Professional Courses

  • Automatic Radar Plotting Aid - (ARPA RADAR): Five days course meets the guidance of IMO Model Course 1.08 and recommended to all yacht masters and officers.
  • Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS): Five days course aims to train bridge watchkeeping officers and other interested personnel in the safe and efficient use of ECDIS.
  • GMDSS General Operators Training: 10 days course, required for all deck officers serving on vessels equipped with GMDSS Equipment.
  • IYT Instructor Training Program: IYT has formalized its Instructor Training Program or Train the Trainer Program to maintain global standards.
  • Marine Communications (VHF-SRC): The IYT Marine Communications course (Very High Frequency - Short Range Certificate) is recognized by the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
  • Master of Yachts - Coastal - Power / Sail MCA Recognized: A comprehensive course consisting of six days for sail or five days for power, which includes the practical on the water examination. The course covers subjects such as Navigational charts and publications, dead reckoning and estimated position, position fixing, tides, tidal levels and data, pilotage, safety at sea, meteorology and much more.
  • Master of Yachts Limited 200 Tons Training - Power / Sail MCA Recognized: The IYT Master of Yachts Limited 200 Tons course has become the most globally accepted course for the operation of commercial yachts up to 200 tons. Recognition by 25 governments has placed IYT MOY 200 Ton accreditation at the top as the global standard of certification.
  • Master of Yachts Unlimited - MCA Recognized: The IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited certificate is a qualification that indicates that the holder has sufficient knowledge of celestial navigation to navigate globally using a sextant and to plan, undertake and manage an ocean passage together with a comprehensive understanding of the factors involved with regards to routing and meteorology.
  • MCA Oral Prep: Intensive courses to prepare Masters and Officers for various levels of MCA Oral Exams.
  • Professional Superyacht Hospitality: The course provides interior staff of a superyacht the basic knowledge required to enter the industry. The syllabus covers many aspects of the service industry.
  • Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting: Three days course, aims to provide the training in advanced Firefighting in accordance with section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. The course meets the guidance of IMO Model Course 2.03.
  • Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness: This is a half day module which teaches in compliance with the STCW Reg V1/6 and Part A of section A-VI/6 paragraph 4.
  • Proficiency in Medical Care: Three days course, aims to provide the training in medical care in accordance with section A-VI/4 of the STCW Code. The course meets the guidance of IMO Model Course 1.15.
  • Small Powerboat & RIB Master MCA Recognized: This three-day course covers two days of theory and one day of practical boat handling.
  • STCW Basic Training 5 in 1: This six-day course is the minimum level of qualification for those intending to work at sea in accordance with section A-VI/1 and A-VI/6 of the STCW code.
  • Superyacht Deck Crew: The five-day IYT Superyacht Crew course is a MCA recognized course and is highly recommended for entry-level students who wish to enter the superyacht industry.
  • Superyacht Master 500 GT: A comprehensive course consisting of 18 weeks theory and minimum 70 hours of practical training. Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be eligible to apply for exams conducted by Flag State and possess Yacht Master 499 GT Certificate of Competency.
  • Superyacht Master Unlimited STCW A-II/3: A comprehensive course consisting of 16 weeks theory training complies with the requirements of the STCW Convention Regulation A-II/2. Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be eligible to apply for exams conducted by Flag State and possess Yacht Master Unlimited Certificate of Competency.

  • International Bareboat Skipper Power / Sail: The International Bareboat Skipper course is a five-day course. It is not for beginners and the recommended entry level requirements are a VHF maritime radio operators’ certificate, and to have logged over 200 nautical miles and 10 days at sea before advancing to this level.
  • International Bareboat Skipper Sail / Catamaran: The International Bareboat Skipper course is a five-day course.   • International Certificate of Competency Course: The ICC is required for operators of most vessels on both inland and coastal waters in a large part of the European Union.
  • International Flotilla Skipper: This is a five-day course aimed at increasing a student’s knowledge sufficiently to be a watchkeeper or a flotilla skipper.
  • International Flotilla Skipper Sail / Catamaran: This is a five-day course aimed at increasing a student’s knowledge sufficiently to be a watchkeeper or a flotilla skipper.
  • Introduction to Boating & International Crew: This is a certificate of excellence for those candidates who wish to train to become an active crew member on a power or sailing yacht.
  • IYT Commercial Tender License Course: This is a 2-day course to obtain a certificate of competency to command a tender (power vessel) up to 5 meters with maximum 40 HP.
  • Navigation Master Training: A standalone course designed to enable the offshore mariner to safely navigate extended passages using traditional methods. It includes practical navigation exercises and sample chartwork calculations.
  • Personal Watercraft Operator (PWC): This is a one-day theory and practical course designed to cover the requirements for the safe operation and maintenance of a personal watercraft.
  • Powerboat Skipper Training: Designed for those to wish to operate a power pleasure boat with accommodation up to 24 m, (80′) in sight of land in fair weather.
  • Weather Master Course: A standalone course for those who are seeking a comprehensive understanding of the factors involved in world meteorology and weather routing for long distance or ocean passages.
  • Yacht Master Coastal Power / Sail: The IYT Worldwide Yachtmaster Offshore certificate is a recreational certificate of competency to command sailing and/or power vessels up to 24 meters in length up to 150 nm offshore.
  • Yacht Master Coastal Sail / Catamaran: The IYT Worldwide Yachtmaster Offshore certificate is a recreational certificate of competency to command sailing and/or power vessels up to 24 meters in length up to 150 nm offshore.
