Training Programs
Captains License Courses
- Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) (6-pack): This license is most appropriate for uninspected passenger vessels which by law are limited to six paying passengers. Usually consists of smaller vessels engaged in charter fishing, whale watching, SCUBA operations, and tour cruises. Four exams are administered that correspond to the four modules of the class - Navigation Rules, Deck General and Safety, Navigation General, and Chartering.
- Master up to 100 Tons: This license is most appropriate for vessels carrying more that six passengers for hire and carry a USCG certificate of inspection. Vessels include – large charter fishing boats, small ferry boats, dinner cruise vessels, and whale watch boats
- Upgrade OUPV To Master 100 Tons: This course is for those holding an OUPV license and tests on the additional knowledge required for the Master license. Students complete a comprehensive exam at the end of the course.
- Commercial Assistance Towing: This course meets the content and examination requirements necessary in order to receive this endorsement on either a OUPV or Masters license.
- License Renewal Class: This course meets the content and examination requirements necessary in order to renew either an OUPV or Masters license.
FCC Radio Courses
- Marine Radio Operators Permit: This course is designed to enable professional mariners to earn their FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit. All mariners who operate single sideband or VHF radios on vessels carrying more than six passengers on hire, those operating in international waters, and those on vessels of 300 GT or more, are required to hold this permit. Frequency selection, legal requirements, and equipment capabilities are discussed.
- GMDSS Operator License: This course is designed enable professional mariners to earn their FCC GMDSS license. Qualifies personnel as Global Marine Distress and Safety System (GNDSS) radio operators for the purposes of operations GMDSS radio installations, including some basic equipment adjustments. It also confers the operating authority of the Marine Radio Operators Permit.
