Captain’s License Renewal and CPR/First Aid Training programs for Licensed USCG Captains and Public in Annapolis, Maryland
Located in Annapolis, Maryland, Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association (CAPCA) is a professional membership organization for Coast Guard-licensed captains across the Chesapeake Bay and along the Atlantic coast. The association promotes professional development and business opportunities for licensed captains. The member captains operate charter boats, tour boats, survey and towing vessels, and ocean-going ships. Many of its members provide instructions for new boat owners and others deliver boats between ports. The association has more than 300 licensed captains available to assist boat owners and dealers.
CAPCA operates an online job board for the members that serves as a clearinghouse for captain’s jobs, offer continuing education classes, mentor captains to help improve their practical skills, and provide opportunities for members to network with other captains and with leaders in the maritime community.
CAPCA offers an array of maritime-oriented classes that are open to the public. They offer classes based on interest and availability of instructors. CAPCA’s Continuing Education program helps captains maintain or improve their professional knowledge through courses and seminars. Most classes are open to the public.
Training Programs
Maritime Classes
- Captain’s License Renewal - OUPV and Master up to 100 tons: This course satisfies the requirement of an approved training course in lieu of the 360-sea day requirement. This course covers Rules of the Road and general subjects. Upon successfully completing this USCG approved course, you will receive a certificate that will be accepted by the USCG as part of your renewal application for OUPV or up to 100-ton Master. Course completion certificates are valid for one year. This class is presented by the National Seafarers Academy in conjunction with CAPCA.
