Marine Engineering, Transport, and Naval Architecture Programs & Logistics Engineering Courses at HCT Abu Dhabi Men's College
Founded in 1988, the system of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is a community of more than 23,000 students and 2,000 staff based on 17 modern, technology-enhanced campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Fujairah, Madinat Zayed, Ras Al Khaimah, Ruwais and Sharjah, making it the largest higher education institution in the UAE.
HCT offers many different, work-relevant, English-taught programs in Applied Communication, Business, Maritime, Computer & Information Science, Engineering Technology & Science, Health Sciences and Education at various levels. All programs are designed in consultation with business and industry leaders to ensure the students’ skills are job-relevant and to the highest standards.
The Division of Engineering Technology and Science at the Higher Colleges of Technology offers a wide range of programs and courses at the Bachelor and Diploma level. These courses prepare students to take up challenging and critical positions requiring technical expertise in a modern and evolving world. Students experience a hands-on approach to learning that combines theory with practice and focuses on the demands of the modern workplace.
Academic & Training Programs
Undergraduate Maritime Programs
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Marine Engineering Technology (Abu Dhabi Men's College): The mission of the degree program is to give education and training to cadets to enable them to pursue a career as a marine engineering officer at sea. The degree program includes the required academic component for the certificates of competency up to Chief Engineer’s level. These certificates will be issued by the Federal Transport Authority once the cadets have sufficient seagoing experience. This program educates students in the field of Marine Engineering Technology, to prepare them to work in a wide range of maritime related industries in the UAE including: the offshore industry; shipyards; classifications societies; ship design consultancies; ship owners, and ports.
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Marine Transport (Abu Dhabi Men's College):The mission of the degree program is to give education and training to cadets to enable them to pursue a career as a navigating officer at sea. The degree includes the required academic component for the certificates of competency up to Master’s level. These certificates will be issued by the Federal Transport Authority once the cadets have sufficient seagoing experience. The program also includes practical seagoing service with guided study, and provided sufficient sea service is obtained by the end of the third year. Students can apply to the Federal Transport Authority for the Certificate of Competency as Officer of the Watch.
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Maritime Engineering Technology and Naval Architecture (Abu Dhabi Men's College): The mission of the program is to provide knowledge and skills to students in the field of Maritime Engineering and Naval Architecture, to prepare them to contribute to a wide range of maritime related industries in the UAE including: ship building and repair yards; regulatory authorities; classifications societies; ship design consultancies; ship owners, and ports.
Undergraduate Logistics Program
- Bachelor of Logistics Engineering Technology with 16 weeks Work Placement (Abu Dhabi Men's College): Bachelor of Logistics Engineering Technology provides an excellent broad education with specializations to cater to the global UAE logistics industry. Logistics Engineering Technology students are trained to support the analysis, design, development and improvement of logistics systems in the manufacturing and service arenas. Students will have the option to graduate with a Diploma in Logistics Engineering Technology upon the successful completion of 81 credits inclusive of the 8 week Work Placement.
