Located at Naples in Italy, Crew Training Solutions (CTS) is a professional maritime training centre approved by International Yacht Training (IYT) to run professional courses & exams leading towards & including the Master of Yachts Certificate of Competence (CoC). CTS is also the only MCA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) training centre in Italy approved to deliver the full STCW 2010 courses and provides various courses and training programs.

CTS is also the SQA (Scottish Qualification Authority) appointed exam centre in Italy for the UKLAP Grade 1 - a mandatory required qualification in order to obtain a UK / Red Ensign CeC. CTS provides seafarers of any nationality with the latest, most valid and industry recognized training to assist entry into the industry or further career development.

The course objectives are to equip candidates with the knowledge and understanding of all elements necessary to obtain the relevant Certificate of Competency (CoC) accordance with the UK / Red Ensign MCA requirements.

CTS & IYT Courses

MCA Oral Prep Training

  • Officer of the Watch (OOW) 3000gt (Yachts) Mock / Practice Oral Exam: A 90 minute online mock / practice Officer of the Watch 3000gt / OOW 3000gt Oral Examination utilizing visual and training aids near-identical to those used by the MCA in the final online exam.
  • MCA Master 200GT Mock / Practice Oral Exam: A 90 minute online mock / practice MCA Master 200gt / OOW 500gt Oral Examination utilising visual and training aids near-identical to those used by the MCA in the final online exam.
  • MCA Master 200gt / OOW 500gt Oral Prep Course: The MCA Master 200 GT / OOW 500 GT is very similar to the IYT MoY Limited/Unlimited qualification but is being asked for more frequently when working overseas when the port officials are used to recognising MCA qualifications.

IYT/MCA Courses

  • IYT/MCA Small Powerboat & RIB Master: A 3-day Theory and Practical course designed to cover the requirements to meet the Small Commercial Vessel Code and the requirements for issue of an ICC based on Resolution 40 from the Economic Commission for Europe Inland Transport Committee Working Party on Inland Water Transport.
  • IYT VHF Radio SRC (Short Range Certificate): The IYT Marine Communications course (Very High Frequency – Short Range Certificate) is recognised by the Republic of the Marshall Islands. It is designed to ensure a thorough understanding of maritime radio communication at sea. It is intended for all marine environments and follows international standards.
  • IYT Personal Watercraft Operator: This is a one-day theory and practical course designed to cover the requirements for the safe operation and maintenance of a personal watercraft. As well as the theory component, the instruction will emphasise the practical applications of handling a PWC on the water.
  • Small Craft RADAR Course: This 1-day course is highly recommended for all candidates taking the IYT Master of Yachts Limited course and/or the MCA Master 200gt Oral Prep Course. COLREGs are included in their entirety within the syllabus for both aforementioned courses.
  • MCA H.E.L.M. Human Elements, Leadership & Management (Operational): This 3-day MCA approved H.E.L.M. Human Element, Leadership & Management (Operational) course is designed to meet the mandatory requirements for training in the human element, leadership and management at the operational level as set out in Regulations II and III of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). It provides students with awareness and understanding of the key human factors influencing effective resource management.
  • IYT/MCA Master of Yachts (Limited) - Complete Package (Theory & Practical): This combined package is for those who have extensive experience on both Power and Sail vessels and are confident that they can fulfil the requirements detailed herein for both. Your course will last approximately two weeks, starting with a 6-day IYT/MCA Master of Yachts Theory / shore based course at one of our tailored training facilities.
  • IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited (MoY) (MCA Approved): The IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited certificate is an MCA recognized qualification that indicates that the holder has sufficient knowledge of celestial navigation to navigate globally using a sextant and to plan, undertake and manage an ocean passage together with a comprehensive understanding of the factors involved with regards to routing and meteorology.
