They offer the practical training through the Sailing Yacht Chao Lay is a 46 foot Beneteau Oceanis. Geared for RYA Practical Training she offers a great base for learning to sail. This is a well-maintained training yacht with impeccable safety standards and RYA inspected and approved.
The courses combine education with vacation - plenty of time to enjoy other activities during the week. Highly experienced British RYA instructors who have sailed around the world in many vessels. They also offer tailor-made training packages and sailing holidays. The courses are available from novice through to professional and the highest standards are offered by Grenada Bluewater Sailing. RYA Practical Sailing Courses
- RYA Start Yachting: Sailing around Grenada’s stunning coastline, you will experience steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and become aware of safety on board.
- RYA Competent Crew: A course for those wanting to be active crew members, not just passengers.
- RYA Day Skipper: Take charge on short passages under instruction.
- RYA Coastal Skipper: Skipper more challenging passages by day and night
- RYA Yachtmaster Preparation: The popular RYA Yachtmaster preparation course is conducted on board the sailing yacht Chao Lay.
- RYA Yachtmaster: Many RYA Yachtmaster candidates choose to complete the Yachtmaster Preparation course for the benefit of tailor-made Caribbean sailing tuition prior to the examination. Provided that you have sufficient experience and sea time, you are then put forward as a candidate for the Yachtmaster exam on board Chao Lay.
- Mile Building Sailing Charters: If you do not have the required experience and sea time, you can take part in Grenada Bluewater Sailing mile building cruises.
- International Certificate of Competence: If you have completed an RYA practical sail training course with Grenada Bluewater Sailing, then submitting the course completion certificate with the application may suffice. The International Certificate of Competence is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.
