Seminars, Masterclasses, Short Courses and Programs in Shipping, Cargo, Chartering, Marine Insurance, Bills of Lading Worldwide and Online

Headquartered in Denmark, BIMCO is the largest of the international shipping associations representing ship-owners controlling around 65 percent of the world’s tonnage and with members in more than 120 countries drawn from a broad range of stakeholders having a vested interest in the shipping industry, including managers, brokers and agents. BIMCO is accredited as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with all relevant United Nations organs.
BIMCO Education arranges a variety of courses around the world for BIMCO members and non-members alike. Industry experts guide participants through relevant and current topics and cases from the maritime industry. The courses often have limited number of participants and are very popular. All BIMCO Courses and Seminars can be delivered as in-house events. Available to BIMCO Members only, this is a cost-effective way of training larger groups of employees. All courses can be tailored to specific requirements and can be delivered world-wide.

BIMCO Documents
BIMCO produces a wide variety of standard forms, which are published in the Forms of Approved Documents (FAD) - this annually updated portfolio of documents contains over a hundred separate charter parties, bills of lading and other forms and an extensive range of general purpose and specialized clauses issued, supported or recommended by BIMCO.
Charter parties
BIMCO issues numerous voyage and time charter parties, ranging from general-purpose forms such as GENCON and GENTIME to charter parties designed for use in specific trades, such as coal and ore, oil, gas, chemicals, cement, grain, fertilizers, wood and containers.
Bills of Lading and Way Bills
Many of BIMCO’s voyage charter parties are complemented by tailor made bills of lading and, in some cases, way bills. There are also a number of widely used general purpose bills of lading, such as CONGENBILL and its liner trade equivalent, CONLINEBILL 2000.
Standalone/Specialist Clauses
BIMCO also produces a number of standalone and specialist clauses, which can be incorporated into any charter party or agreement as appropriate. Such clauses are often developed in response to specific events, such as the implementation of the ISPS Code or new regulations relating to Maritime Security.
Specialist forms
New developments in maritime services have created demands for specially created agreements where no specific form of contract existed before. BIMCO has been at the forefront of developing such specialist documents for many years. Chief among these forms are the ship and crew management agreements that were first drafted in the late 1980s and have proved very successful. BIMCO has also developed special forms for, among others, the ship repair industry, the bunker trade and the offshore sector.
