JL has been involved in a broad range of shipping activities consistently focusing on operations that require competence and know-how. Over time, the JL name has evolved into a byword for respectability and trustworthiness in international merchant shipping. Despite working in different fields, JL's different business activities are linked to one another by a unified business philosophy and a common set of values.
J. Lauritzen A/S is 100% owned by Lauritzen Fonden (The Lauritzen Foundation). The Lauritzen Foundation was established in 1945 by the late ship-owners Ivar and Knud Lauritzen, together with their sister Anna Lønberg-Holm, to mark the 50th anniversary of the parent company, Vesterhavet A/S. The principal objective was to secure that companies within the Group could remain independent companies with their own identities.
J. Lauritzen operates in specialized markets, and the staff needs a high level of know-how to offer the value-adding services. Therefore the company places strong emphasis on education and training and foster a culture of continuous professional development. With highest professional standards in the recruitment process, Lauritzen seeks the best candidates through competency profiles, job analyses, interviewing and testing.
