Founded in 2000, Singapore Management University (SMU) aims to groom outstanding business leaders and creative entrepreneurs capable of excelling in a rapidly changing and dynamic world. Today, SMU is home to more than 6000 students and comprises six schools: Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Accountancy, School of Economics, School of Social Sciences, School of Information Systems and School of Law. SMU offers bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree programs in business and management-related areas, ranging from Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Wealth Management, Law, Information Systems to Social Science.
The International Trading Institute (ITI) was formed in 2007 as the result of a tripartite collaboration between Singapore Management University (SMU), International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and leading Industry Partners. The first trading institute in the world to be set up within a university, ITI boasts a specialist focus on International Trading and is supported by a unique public-private partnership. ITI is the premier industry platform for thought leadership in the arena of international trading.
SMU is a public university in Singapore. Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB), and School of Accountancy are accredited by AACSB International.
Academic & Training Programs
Undergraduate Programs
- BBM (Operations Management Major) wth Maritime Business & Operations, and Operations Analytics Track: The SMU Core Curriculum comprises 12 course units (CUs) grouped under three inter-related pillars of learning: Capabilities (6 CUs), Communities (4 CUs) and Civilizations (2 CUs). The Core Curriculum will initiate undergraduates into their journey to become well-rounded SMU graduates.
- BBM (Finance Major) with International Trading Track (ITT): This special program is offered to full-time SMU students who have opted for Finance as a major and who are entering their 2nd year studies. SMU undergraduates on the concentration have the opportunity to identify international trading and related industries as attractive career options. Organizations are also able to achieve a better fit between individuals and their talent needs. Students are usually candidates with a strong interest in physical commodities trading and finance.
SMU Academy Professional Development Programs
- Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Transformation (30 days): Developed as part of the SGUnited Skills Training initiative, this 6-month full-time program will provide a stepping stone to participants who are keen to upgrade and expand their knowledge in the ever-green and dynamic supply chain industry. It is a practice-based program which seeks to equip participants with a holistic overview of the supply chain business function involving the digital transformation of the supply chain operations. This advanced diploma is a joint program offered by SMU Academy and facilitated by Supply Chain Asia.
- Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (15 days): This certificate program is an operations-oriented program that covers the basics of supply chain and logistics management and is designed to bring a participant through a series of logistics and supply chain operating environment within an organization. The various modules covered in this program include freight, transportation, logistics and International Trade operations.
- Advanced Certificate in Supply Chain Innovation and Transformation (15 days): This advanced certificate program provides participants with training in leading-edge practices from the digital world that can improve their company’s growth, flexibility, speed and efficiency.
- Advanced Certificate in Digital Business with Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management Module (17 days): This certificate program is specifically designed for business leaders and managers, technologists and those keen to harness the power of digital information and technologies.Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management (2 days) module will teach you about the key elements of supply chain and logistics in the age of Industrial IoT, autonomous applications and cyber-physical systems, and how they can be integrated to generate business value.
- Industry 4.0 & Supply Chain Transformation: Developing a Digital Supply Chain Strategic Mindset (3 days): This workshop covers areas related to robotics, the internet of things (IoT), data analytics and its applications.
SMU Executive Development Programs
- Global Supply Chain Management Program (3 days): This program aims to capture, share and apply learning from global supply chain networks. Guiding participants through the complexity and uncertainty of the modern supply network and the operational experiences of Asia, they explore the development of supply network resilience.
- Blockchain for Maritime Decision-makers (2 days): The Blockchain for Maritime Decision-makers (BMD) Program in Singapore is designed for decision-makers within the extended value chain of the maritime industry (e.g. ship owners, ship managers, classification societies, manning agents, charterers, port authorities, regulators, logistics & supply chain etc.) who are responsible for the future business growth.
