Offshore Engineering/Technology, Maritime Law, and Supply Chain Management Education at NUS Singapore

The Centre for Offshore Research & Engineering (CORE) was established at NUS to help strengthen performance of Singapore as an oil and gas hub. CORE aims to develop advanced technologies and enlarge the talent pool in offshore engineering research and development (R&D) through working with other local & international experts and partners in the oil and gas industry.
The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific is collaboration between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) for research and education programs in global logistics. This collaboration provides joint logistics expertise which caters to the logistics needs of the industries across the world today focusing on global logistics, information technology, industrial engineering and supply chain management.
Offshore Engineering & Technology Programs
- MSc (Offshore Technology)
- MSc (Offshore Technology) with Specialization in Subsea Engineering
- MSc (Offshore Technology) with Specialization in Petroleum Engineering
- MSc (Offshore Technology) with Specialization in Offshore Structures
- The program offers a comprehensive coverage of topics in Offshore Engineering & Structures, Subsea Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences that are of great relevance to the offshore oil and gas industry which span the design of facilities in shallow waters to challenges that are faced by engineers in developments in deep waters and in arctic conditions, and technologies related to drilling, downhole measurements and characterization in the exploration and production of petroleum reservoirs. The program is supported under SkillsFuture Study Award, Marine and Offshore Engineering.
- Graduate Certificate in Offshore Structures: The program aims at providing current and updated knowledge in Offshore Structures for graduates with B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) degree, other relevant engineering degrees or equivalent.
- MEng / PhD Research in Offshore & Marine Sector: A research degree leading to the Doctor of Philosohpy (PhD) is available to prepare candidates for a career in research, academia or leadership role in the offshore and maritime sector. Competitive research scholarships are available for outstanding candidates. Candidates may register with the relevant departments in the Faculty. Offshore & Marine is a highly specialized industry that requires a constant pool of talents with the right skills to support its growth and development.
Supply Chain Programs
- BTech Supply Chain Management (4 years, part time): The program will provide an avenue for suitably qualified polytechnic diploma holders who are currently employed to pursue a part-time degree at NUS, while allowing them to stay economically productive during the course. The part-time program will marry key components from the broad-based full-time Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) (ISE) program with essential elements of strong industry relevance that will be immediately useful in the workplace. In this way, it will fulfill the strong aspiration of the growing number of capable polytechnic graduates to obtain a degree without the need to go overseas or give up their jobs.
- MSc in Supply Chain Management (full-time, part-time): It is an inter-faculty program between The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific (TLI-AP), Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Decision Sciences (DS) at NUS Business School. The program is ideal for mid-career professionals who are keen to advance their career in logistics. The integrated program which combines business and engineering will provide students with a comprehensive skill-set for planning, designing and operating modern supply chains in Asia. On completion of the course, graduates will be well equipped with knowledge of global logistics, information technology and industrial engineering to take on a challenging career in the logistics industry.
Maritime Law Programs
- Master of Laws (LLM in Maritime Law): This program enables law graduates to obtain specialized knowledge in maritime law, a field of great importance to Singapore and the region. Students will obtain a comprehensive overview of the legal matters relating to commercial shipping, marine insurance, shipping regulation and ocean policy. Overseas candidates accepted into this specialization will do it full-time within one academic year. Candidates working for companies based in Singapore and who wish to do the specialization part-time over two academic years, must furnish evidence of full sponsorship from their companies or the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
- Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law & Arbitration: Designed for students who do not possess a first degree in law, the Diploma provides specialized training in maritime law and arbitration to professionals such as master mariners, chief engineers and graduates from other disciplines working in the maritime sector. The Graduate Diploma allows individuals from Singapore-based companies who are able to furnish evidence of full sponsorship from their companies or the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to pursue the course on a part-time basis over two years. Overseas students will generally complete the Graduate Diploma in one year.
Logistics Institute Summer School
- Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management (2 weeks): The program provides a unique enriching experiential learning opportunity to gain a broader understanding and insight into global logistics and supply chains, over an intensive 2-week summer school program at the Logistikum, University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Students may include this module to satisfy the MSc (SCM) degree requirements, subject to the approval
