Transport Canada Approved Maritime Certification Programs and Marine VHF Training in Victoria, British Columbia

Located at Gibsons BC in Canada, Land’s End Marine Training provides Transport Canada approved marine safety courses and licenses. The company is authorized to issue the certificate as long as all the components are completed satisfactorily.
Land’s End Marine Training Instructors have Transport Canada Commercial Masters Certificate and comply with Transport Canada Quality Management and use certified texts and approved exams.
The Commercial Marine Industry is regulated by Transport Canada and as such, appropriate training is required. The Instructors have a wide variety of Skills, Experience and Certifications to aid you in your endeavors and gaining the marine training required.

Training Programs
Commercial Marine Training
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency Course - SVOP (4 days): The SVOP Course covers the minimum training of operators of commercial vessels, up to 5 gross tonnage engaged on a near coastal, class 2 or a sheltered waters voyage, and for fishing vessels up to 15 gross tonnage or 12 metres overall length engaged on a near coastal, class 2 or a sheltered waters voyage. This includes Whale Watching Boats, Fishing Guide Boats, Charters, Workboats, Water Taxis, Rescue Boats, Fishing Vessels, and more.
- Small Non-Pleasure Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS) (1 day): The SDV-BS (Formerly MED A3) course is approved by Transport Canada and is a requirement for all persons employed on small commercial vessels (before completing 6 months of work at sea). This course provides Basic Safety Training for crew of non-pleasure vessels of not more than 150 gross tonnage operating not more than 25 nautical miles from shore. This course is for Crew Members of non-pleasure vessels including: Commercial Fishing, Crew Boats, Work Boats, etc.
- Marine VHF Radio (ROC-M) (1 day): The ROC-M, Marine VHF Radio certification is a Canadian Federal Government issued certificate required by law to operate a marine VHF radio 25 miles or less from shore. Every person on the boat who will use the radio is required to have their own card.
