Datum Marine offers boating courses and develop and teach commercial power boat handling and navigation courses. Training Programs
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency SVOP (4 days - 26 hours): : The SVOP is a Transport Canada certification to operate a Small Commercial Boat less than 5 Tonnes for Passenger and Cargo boats and less than 15 Gross Tonnes for Commercial Fishing boats. The participants get a basic understanding of the hazards associated with the marine environment and their own vessel and the prevention of shipboard incidents; the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate a small non-pleasure vessel in near coastal and sheltered waters under normal operating conditions, including darkness and restricted visibility; and additional knowledge on aids to navigation and seamanship to supplement individual experience.
- SDV-BS - Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety Certificate (formerly MED A3): SDV-BS is all about how to deal with emergencies on boats including fires, distress signals, man overboard and more.
- ROC M - Restricted Operator Certificate for Maritime Radio: A ROC certificate specifically for maritime radio is required for anyone operating a marine VHF radio within 25 miles of shore.
