Vocational Training Programs

Marine Engineering Programs

  • Diploma of Marine Engineering (Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal): Become eligible to apply for your certificate of competency engineer class 3 (near coastal), and gain the licensing to become a chief engineer or second engineer on appropriate ships in Australian waters.
  • TAFE Statement in Marine Engineering AMSA Oral Preparation (4 weeks): Approach the AMSA oral examination with greater confidence with this convenient online course. Refine your knowledge on a range of topics including marine auxiliary boilers, machinery and equipment and ship operations.
  • TAFE Statement in Marine Engineering - Experience Assessment (AMSA) Part A (6 weeks): This customised bridging course enables Marine Engineer Class 3 (NC) holders and other unclassified Marine Transport Professionals to pursue higher qualifications in the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering.

Marine Operations Programs

  • Diploma of Maritime Operations (Watchkeeper Deck) (8 months, FT): Combine your navigation abilities with your sense of adventure and challenge yourself to take the next step in your maritime career. This course is your passport to life on international waters as a 2nd or 3rd deck watchkeeping officer.
  • Diploma of Maritime Operations (Master less than 500 GT) (9 months, FT): Challenge yourself to become Master of international vessels as you develop the skills needed to work as a Master or Chief Mate on commercial vessels up to 500 GT in the Australian exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and in international waters.
