Maritime Operations Programs
- Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal) (4 months, self-paced): Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to - How to work effectively as part of a crew on a vessel up to 80 metres; Critical survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment; Nautical terminology; Firefighting skills and basic First Aid; and Environmental work practices to protect our waters.
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) (12 months, self-paced): Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to - Apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment; Fight fires on board a vessel; Follow procedures to minimise and fight fires onboard a vessel; Operate inboard and outboard motors; and Operate a vessel up to 12 metres.
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 Near Coastal) (12 months, self-paced): Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to - Operate and service marine internal combustion engines, and propulsion and auxiliary systems; Use deck machinery; Operate and maintain extra low and low voltage Electrical systems and equipment; Fight fires onboard a vessel; and survive at sea using survival craft.
- Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master up to 24 metres Near Coastal) (12 months, self-paced): Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to -Manoeuvre a vessel up to 24 metres within coastal waters; Instruct your crew; Keep detailed records and log books; Plan and navigate a passage for a vessel up to 80 metres; and Use wheelhouse equipment for safe navigation.
- Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 45 metres Near Coastal) (12 months, self-paced): Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to - Monitor and manage vessel operations; Operate deck machinery and steering gear on a vessel up to 80m; Manage the loading, discharging and stowing of Cargo; Observe regulations to ensure the safe operation of a vessel; and Plan and navigate a passage on a larger commercial vessel.
