NOGEPA 3.1 On Scene Coordinator Training for Captains and First-mates of Offshore Support Vessels

The objective of NOGEPA 3.1 On Scene Coordinator Training is to train the delegate in acting as On Scene Coordinator with the aid of bridge Simulator scenarios. The training introduces the underpinning knowledge and skills required to perform an On Scene Coordinator role.

The role of On Scene Coordinator include - communications with the casualty & control room; coordination on scene; receiving, modifying and implementing search, rescue and support action plans; monitoring safety; and reporting and record-keeping

This is a specialist training and is intended for Captains and First-mates of Offshore Support Vessels

  • Duration: 3 days
  • Validity: 5 years
  • Prerequisites: Knowledge of GMDSS procedures, navigation and Radar/ARPA

NOGEPA 3.1 Training Program

  • Thorough knowledge of the Search and Rescue organization
  • Thorough knowledge of the tasks of the SAR Mission Controller, the Rescue Coordination Centre, the On Scene Coordinator and the Aircraft Coordinator
  • Thorough knowledge of IAMSAR and OPPLAN SAR
  • Use of GMDSS during SAR operations
  • Thorough knowledge of surge patterns and surge areas
  • Thorough knowledge of the influence of tides and wind
  • Assessing the situation
  • Compose a rescue plan
  • Use of leeway charts and descent data
  • Commanding the available support units
  • Control of on scene radio communication
  • Controlling of situation reports
  • Informing the RCC
  • Preparing the relevant reports
