Established in 2013 and headquartered in Palma, Spain, SOVREN Nautical Academy provides nautical training solutions for professional superyacht crew in both Palma and Barcelona. The academy offers STCW training courses accredited under The Republic of the Marshall Islands and the RYA courses.

SOVREN Crew is another company in the group and provides unique service to professional yacht crew worldwide. They have an app called SOVREN Crew app for yacht crew and Crew Managers. For yachts and captains, the app is the front end of an advanced search system finding the ideal candidates, quickly and efficiently, with targeted results.

Training Programs

STCW Courses

  • STCW Basic Safety Training (5 days): Courses include - Personal Survival Techniques (Ref A-VI/1-1); Fire Prevention and Firefighting (Ref A-VI/1-2); First Aid (Ref A-VI/1-3); Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (Ref A-VI/1-4); and Proficiency in Security Awareness (Ref A-VI/6-1). Personal Survival Techniques and Fire Prevention and Firefighting are the practical modules that take place outside of the classroom, First Aid also has practical elements but can be done from the comfort of our classrooms in Palma.
  • STCW Update (2 days): The Update Course generally includes Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting and Personal Survival Techniques
  • STCW Ship Security Officer (3 days Virtual or Classroom): A Ship Security Officer (SSO) is the person on board the ship who is designated by the Company and the vessel’s Master. The STCW Ship Security Officer certification incorporates both the Security Awareness and Designated Security Duties certification, it is a three-day course.
  • STCW Advanced Fire Fighting (4 days): This advanced course is designed for those designated to control firefighting operations onboard, with particular attention paid to organization, tactics and command.
  • STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Update (1 day): This advanced update course is for those designated to control firefighting operations onboard, with particular attention paid to organization, tactics and command. The Update is a classroom-based course and only requires theoretical training.
